Kenzie: I was looking into getting a DNA test done before he is born, but that's too expensive and there's a lot of issues and it could end in a miscarriage.. so I'm okay to wait another 3 months until he's born.. But I have no idea about names...

Noah: We won't, there's the house down by my parents, I can take off from school, or we can look by school, whichever you want. I know we cna do this..We're baby back...I'm back.

Kenzie:you're not taking of from school. And I can study from anywhere, so that's not an issue. We'll work that out later. God I missed you.. This was so hard without you, but I just didn't know what I was meant to do. Everyone was in my face, telling me what I needed to do. But at least I got the family on board, they've reopened my account... I'm not a broke bitch anymore. But I just didn't know what to do. My heart said you, but my head told me not to. I'm sorry I took so long.

Noah: nobody is ready, baby..no body wakes up one day and goes that's it, i've had enough life experience, i can be a parent. That's not how it works. We just work with it, and pray we raise a good kid, because it's goingto be us. no me, no you. us.

Kenzie: I don't want to raise it in a hotel, or those crappy apartments.. are you sure we can do this? I... I don't think I can do this without you.. I'm struggling as it is. I need us back..

Noah: Kenzie, We are always going to have problems. We're probably going to fight, a lot. We're going to be pissed at each other and want to rip each other's throats out every now and then, but that's because we love each other. If we didn't fight then we wouldn't care. I'm madly in love with you, and this baby, evne if it turns out to be black. I want our kid to know that there is real love out there because his dad fought so hard for the right just stand in front of his mom and say he loved her..

Kenzie: I just don't want to be hurt again.. And I don't think I can be a good mother to this kid... Maybe you can just have him.. I'll give you all the parental rights and then I'll... *she sighs* I have no idea. All I know is that I'm not ready to be a mother, but I love you with everything that I've got...

Noah: Then I will let you live your life if you want to live it with Carter. Or I will treat it like the child that I've always wanted. Like you said, its your body first.

Kenzie: Carter has got nothing to do with this baby.. I'm not even staying at his place anymore. I went home for a while, but gran kept asking about you and I couldn't take the staring so I've been staying at a hotel for the rest of the time. Could you really love this baby if it's not yours? There's a high chance we're gonna have a little black baby. But I want to do it with you... I just... It's selfish of me to put the baby in that situation when we know that we always fight. We know we have issues. We know that there's a lot of shit between us that could possibly not work out. And I don't want to be a single mom... I don't want my kid to have a single mom and to have to keep meeting mom and dad's new partners all the time. There's too much to risk for the kid..

Noah: Kenzie we both know it is. Unless you fucked a guy without a condom the day after we had sex, meaning you cheated on me, then nothing adds up. Its ours. Yes, its in your body, but its also half of my fucking DNA, so i get your pissed, and I get your hurt, and I understand that you can't stand to look at me in the face, but you can't tell me I don't have a choice in what happens to my kid, because I will take you to court on it and I know for a fact you really don't want that to happen. AND I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIX IT MAKENZIE! You keep saying actions speak louder but every action I've taken to make it better gets blatently ignored.

Kenzie: There was only a few days between the last time we had sex, our breakup and me sleeping with josh and James... A week at absolute max.. So I'm just not sure. You say you want to make it up to me... But what do you do to prove that? James has been here. He's cooked for me, he massages my feet, he's come to the appointments, even though we both are pretty sure it's not his. He's there. You're just yelling at me through the phone. Which is so pathetic... I don't want to have this conversation over the phone... Tell me.. How is this supposed to work? How are we supposed to support a child when we can't even have a conversation without fighting, let alone in person..

Noah: I understand I fucked up, trust me, I completley understand. But you can't take it out on my own child. Our child, Kenzie.

Kenzie: we're not going to know until it's born, so stop calling it ours.. It's mine. My body, my baby. You don't think it will be more cruel to bring it up in two separate houses, with parents who constantly fight? Let me tell you.. I already had that life, and I wont give it to my kid. Maybe things are okay for a year, even two... How do I know for sure that you wont fuck up again? You broke my trust once, how do I know it's not going to happen again. Actions speak louder than words and your actions definitely spoke to me...

Noah: I know you have. That family is my aunt. Good try though, means a lot to know you didn't even want me enough to be in my kids life.

Kenzie: Why the fuck would you do that? I'll find a new family. I'll.. I don't know.. But I don't want this kid to not have two parents who are together. It's not going to grow up wondering whether it's going to it's moms place or dads for the holidays... You haven't been to a single appointment... You only want this kid to have to satisfaction of taking it from me..

Noah: Rolling his eyes, Noah just let her talk. "I've done the math, I've thought over everything. It. Is. My. Child."

Kenzie: Look, it doesn't even matter, because I'm giving it away. I've already spoken to a family who are wanting to adopt. You can claim it as much as you want until you're blue in the face, but in the end, you have no say... It's my choice what happens.

“Yeah, but if I hadn’t been so adamant about sleeping with people to get over Noah, it wouldn’t have happened. I didn’t think I’d regret sleeping with you..” She said. She didn’t regret it, not entirely. Only what came from it. 

Mackenzie didn’t want to be in love with James and she was pretty sure there wasn’t a chance that she would. She already hated the fact that her baby would be born into a world with parents who weren’t together. Though she knew that James would be a good dad. He was a teacher, so he was already good with kids. she nodded, agreeing to stop thinking it’s all on her. she laughed a little again. “No, you’re a hideous crier..” she said, rubbing his cheek. 

She nodded again. “Yeah, I know.. I’m sorry that this happened to both of us, I’m pretty sure we only have to wait a few weeks until we can find out who it the real dad. Do you want to come with me to get that checked? I’m probably going to need Noah to come too… You think you can handle that? You know… If it is yours we don’t have to keep it.. Maybe we can find a nice family to give it to..”

“So i’m not sure what you’re saying.” He said in a confused tone. “So you regret sleeping with me?“ he scrunched up his face before saying “We’re not even sure if its mine.”

He slightly laughed at her statement. “Oh whatever.” he rubbed her back before responding and saying “Sure i’d love to come. Not sure if i’ll want Noah there honestly. “ He couldn’t even imagine Noah being able to take care of an actual baby. The man had no morals and can’t even keep it in his pants honestly. He sighed at the thought of the baby being either of theirs.

At the sound of the words Mackenzie spoke he quickly said “No. i’ve got a stable job and i’ll be able to raise the baby okay? if its mine then i got myself into this and i’m not going to take the easy way out okay?”

She shook her head. "I don't. I don't regret it. But I don't want you to either. And I totally get it if you do regret it, I mean... A freaking baby.. Are you serious.." She said, running her fingers through her hair.

She wanted into him slightly, just resting on him. She felt comforted by his presence and his touch. "Thank you.." She said softly. "Yeah, I know you don't. But it might be his too.. And I need to know. Because worst case scenario it's not yours or his and it's Joey's... And there's no way I'm having a baby to a guy I fucked when I was drunk and honestly haven't seen since." She told him. "And I'm not telling him either, because that's just weird. And totally unnecessary." She said.

She sighed. "I don't want this baby.. I don't know if I'll be a good mother. What if I can't handle it and I give up on it. If we put it up for adoption it'll have a family who has worked really hard to find a child... The baby will grow up into a loving supportive family.. Not with two parents who are friends who probably fuck occasionally." She said. She took his hand in hers and just cuddled his arm. "At least you know I'm not contagious.." She said, making a little joke again.

“Please stop blaming yourself i’m serious. it takes two people to have sex so its my shit to deal with also.” he said in a stern tone. 

James was a bit taken back by her statement. Love? That was a word and a feeling that he was unfamiliar with. He hadn’t planned on being associated with that word. And he knew that he could never love Mackenzie the way she needed him to. He could love her as a very close friend but not as someone in a romantic relationship. He noticed that she attempted to joke around the idea but they both knew deep down that falling in love had to be done. Only James knew that it wasn’t possible. “But can you quit thinking that this is all on you?” he asked. “Plus you can stop lying because i’m sure that i’m a handsome crier” he chuckled.

He listened to her question thinking of an answer. “Why not?” he asked. “if it really is mine then thats a lot of shit on my hands too and i’m not even ready to become a father.” he shook his head.

“kenz…don’t apologize. its not your fault okay?” he said as he held her closer to his chest. And it wasn’t. Whoever is the father was also to blame. They both got themselves into some deep shit.

“Nah you love me.” He said glad that his joke made some impact. “Listen” he said pulling apart from her and looking into her eyes with a straight face. “You’re going to get through this okay? Even if its not mine i’m not going to leave your side do you understand? i’m here to stay.” he said wiping his face. He paused before saying “Plus i can’t really leave a person after they’ve already seen me cry.” he grinned.

“It’s mostly my fault.. I shouldn’t have slept with you to begin with... If I didn’t.. You wouldn’t have to deal with any of this shit...” she said to him, sadly. 

She scoffed, “At this rate, we better be in love, because I never wanted my baby growing up with parents who didn’t love each other...” She said, thought her tone may have been perceived as joking, she was actually serious about the last part. She shook her head. “ I can’t though... I can’’t get through this.. there’s an actual baby inside of me.. And I have no idea whose it is... How horrific is that. I can find out eventually, but how did I let myself come to this conclusion..” She had latched onto his shirt, and she was pretty sure she wasn’t ever going to be able to let go. “I’m glad that I have you...” she told him. “You’re a really ugly crier... Why are you crying, anyways? It might not even be yours..” She told him, wiping away tears that kept coming back.

James was just in a completely messy situation. After thinking about the possibilities he’d be the best option. He’d probably be more upset if the baby was Noah’s even though he didn’t want the baby himself. He knew the baby would have a better life with him as the father. “Just please don’t get rid of it…” he whispered while rubbing her back. As she wiped his tears away he couldn’t help but cry more and question what he got himself into. He sighed before looking up at the girl.

Her God-awful combination of a cry and a laugh actually seemed to brighten up the moment because James responded by saying “kenz.” he waited for her acknowledgement. “You’ve got a hideous laugh.” he chuckled in attempt to lift the mood.

Mackenzie was only just 20. She had no idea how to be a parent, her own parents weren’t neccessarily bad parents, they jsut weren’t exactly what she’d wanted to model her parentling styles from. She’d expected to have years and years to work out what she was going to do. This baby was coming in an entire 10 years too early. “Okay..” She said softly when he pleaded with her to not get rid of it. “I’m sorry that you have to deal with this..” she said to him, resting her head on his chest.

She looked up at him when he said he name “Mmm?” she asked, her chin wobbling as another sob threatened. He’d made her laugh even more and that was probably the best thing for their situation. “I hate you..” she said, smacking his chest lightly.

James noticed that mackenzie kept looking away from him but he wanted her to look him into the eye. Part of him was angry. The other part was sad. There were no happy parts. He drowned out the doctor’s words. How could he not? As soon as Mackenzie ran outside of the room he gave the doctor a quick glance and got up and decided to follow her. “kenz!” He called out as he ran outside of the building. He scanned around for her until he spotted her crying. He ran over to her before saying. “What are you sorry for? This is both of our mess.” He said placing a hand around her shoulder. “We’ll figure it out okay?” he said looking into her eyes and pulling her into a tight hug. As soon as he heard her comment he let go of her and yelled “No!”

He was now terrified. They we’rent sure whos it was but he definitely wasn’t going to let her get away with aborting a child. “You’re not doing that.” he responded. He had no idea whos baby it was going to be but he absolutely was scared either way. Not just for himself but for Mackenzie and the future of the life inside of her.

A baby was the last thing she needed. If it was james’ then that would fuck up their whole friendship. And she had no idea what she was going to do if it was Noah’s. She let him hug her, leaning into him. “I don’t know how this happened...I’m sorry that I dragged you into my mess.” she said to him. “What if it’s yours... what if it’s not.” She honestly didn’t know which situation would be worse for her. 

She looked up at him. “Well I don’t really know if I can have it and then give it away.. I never thought I’d have to make this decision...” she looked at him and felt even more sad when she realised he was crying too. She cupped his cheeks and rubbed her thumb under his eyes. “Don’t you cry.. You’ll make it worse..” she said, a laugh coming out of her as she sobbed again. It wasn’t exactly funny, she was just feeling a lot of things and laughing and crying seemed like the only ways to get that emotion out. “Oh god, what have I done....”
