Too Close Quarters
@recklesspilot
“Reno, get your gear, it’s time for us to go!” The perky looking blond stood in the doorway of his office, already in her heavy parka, the supply bag tossed over her shoulder. “Yeah, I know you hate the place, being sent to Icicle again already.” To be honest Elena wasn’t too fond of the cold herself, but missions took all of them where they did.
She had her own reasons for hating to be in the north, the last time she’d been there, well. .. best not to dwell on what had happened to she and Tseng in the snowy wastes that day, best to tune it out and shove it entirely out of her mind. They’d be flying out to Icicle, and then rappelling down into the crater. Rufus wanted to be sure there was nothing of Jenova left, he did not want to risk another rebirth of Sephiroth when the world was finally getting back on its feet.
“Of course he wanted you to fly, you’re the best pilot we have.” a shrug at that. Elena had packed extra coats, blankets, potions in case they were needed, and several extra clips for her pistol. She hadn’t brought the grenades, far too dangerous in the environment they would be in for those.
There were a lot of things that Elena hadn’t shared about what had happened in the place where they were going. Things that had ripped into her soul with cold claws and ripped pieces of her out, things that got shoved down into the recessed that all Turks developed after a time. “I’m ready, sempai.”
