I just read elsewhere that Jessi Combs died during a land speed record attempt yesterday. I doubt there have been more motorcycle racing deaths this year than usual but for some reason it feels that way. Maybe because I am following racing more intently or am just paying more attention? I don’t know. But some of these deaths have been a real punch in the gut.

I am not a big fan of the cult of personality but people like Jessie add character to our hobbies and sports. I am very sorry to read this news. Her death will leave another little hole in our motorcycling world.
