what is the style ribbing you did at the bottom?

How did you crochet the inner trim so you can add buttons? Is there button holes on the other side?

If you have youtube videos that shows how to do it it would be a big help for me! No worries if not. And obligatory photo of my cardigan.

hi!!! your cardigan is looking LOVELY so far!!! :D i'm going to try to explain as best as i can, but take it with a grain of salt since i haven't made a cardigan in a while HAHA. i believe the stitch i used was single crochet back loop only (shortened as sc BLO).... here's a youtube tutorial for the ribbing itself !!

i'm gonna put the construction under the cut because this post gets LONG.

as for the construction, start by joining your yarn at a bottom corner of one of the front panels (i started at the left side when worn since i'm right handed). here you'd start chaining and doing the sc BLO and anchoring all of that good stuff to your piece as the youtube tutorial goes, until you've done ribbing up to the corner of the other front panel!

now would be a good time to measure where you want your buttons to go and put stitch markers there, as well as where you want the button holes to go on the other side.

after that's done, you can start crocheting repeating the same steps as before with the tutorial, BUT! when you reach a spot where you'd want a button hole to go, you'd then start your row as normal, but chain 1 or 2 (depending on the size of your buttons), skip 1 or 2 stitches respectively, and continue sc BLO down the rest of your row. (youtube tutorial in case that was confusing, just keep in mind she's not doing BLO there, but You should!)

for the side with no button holes, you can crochet the ribbing just the same as you did with the bottom ribbing. do crochet all the way down the bottom ribbing as well!!

that about covers it i think...? definitely let me know if anything was too confusing or you need more help at all!! and feel free to show me your finished cardigan whenever it's done, i'd love to see it!!! :D
