one of my coworkers just made a comment about the “era of Taylor’s life where she had a new boyfriend every week” and honestly I started seeing red and had to take some deep breaths. like it is fucking 2026, how are we STILL worrying about how many or few sexual/romantic partners a woman has had. and don’t fucking come in here with “oh she’s married now anyways so it’s not like that even applies to her anymore” because again IT SHOULDN’T FUCKING MATTER IF YOU’VE HAD 100 BOYFRIENDS OR 1!!!! IT DOESN’T FUCKING MATTER!!! contrary to popular belief it is in fact okay for women to date around and figure themselves out and decide what they want!!! and sometimes that ends in a long term partnership or marriage and sometimes it doesn’t!!! But it pisses me off so bad because people are using Taylor as a microcosm for all women and that is why I get so fucking pissed about it!!!! STOP THE TRAD MINDSET BULLSHIT!!! FREE YOURSELVES!!!!
and can I add:
1. men never get this same level of scrutiny regarding their dating history. The only words regularly used regarding men who date/sleep around a lot have positive word associations (player, alpha male, rake, etc). Whereas women have MANY negative names for promiscuous behavior/lifestyles (jezebel, whore, slut, etc). The only time I ever really see men referred to as “run through” (one of the only negative terms used on men that I can think of) is online when people are joking about their horny blorbos (ex. Benedict Bridgerton).
2 ALL THE RELATIONSHIPS IN TAYLOR’S CASE WERE CONSENTING ADULT PARTIES!!! (we can nitpick the grooming behaviors of JM/JG at a different time but Taylor at least was of age.) unlike MANYYYYY predatory dudes in Hollywood/the music biz who have made it a point to chase after literal children!!! Why are we mad if adults want to have consensual hookups or short term flings??? Unless you’re someone’s therapist you don’t have a right to interrogate their preferred relationship style!!! And it might be a temporary relationship style ON TOP OF THAT!!!! It doesn’t fucking matter how many dates you’ve been on!!!!! It doesn’t matter how many partners you’ve had!! It doesn’t matter!!!!
