Ik I've rebloged a lot of posts saying this but I am going to say it myself as well.
Staff expects us to give up and accept this change, the expect the noise to quiet down. Don't. Let it.
Yes, for almost every bad change they've made we've eventually accepted and adapted to it, but this one is actively harmful to this site's community and creatives. We NEED to push back against this.
We have convinced them to roll back an update before, I believe we CAN do it again. Be loud. Voice your complaints. Send feedback and do not shut up about this. This is the only way we'll get rid of this.
There is another blackout on the 20th, and I encourage you to participate. It worked for the Shapes.inc ads, I believe it can work for this. My own participation will likely depend on other factors since there are a few people that this site is my only reliable way to talk to but I will be participating if I feel I can.
At the very least just don't shut up about this and don't give in. Keep complaining, keep sending (politely worded) feedback for as long as it takes to make them listen. I don't care if it takes a week or a month, or however long. Keep fighting. Keep complaining. As a small artist on this site, I am very aware and terrified of the harm this change will cause. Don't let this site become as hostile and competitive as the rest. Please.

Ooc: I've updated the pinned post a bit <3
Ooc: continued from this post
Neiran tried to pull away, his movements growing more and more frantic the closer Vela got.
"No no no no please you... You already- you bit me! Twice! Y-you don't... You don't need to- please."
He growled before returning to Myth, laying against his leg and purring, breathing in and out deeply, the sky and Myth's core settling
"I should rip out your throat, Neiran...."
Myth seizes Vela by the back of his cape. "No. Don't. Please don't. Stay here with me. I don't want you near this piece of shit. If anyone is going to rip out his throat between you and me, it should be me."
@kibidi-rp-blog
"Get methodical and meticulous with it loves. Though I'm still trying to figure out how he knows me, the response to my name is usually disgust so his being fear is rather interesting."
His attempts to pull away failed as she lifted him into the air.
"Which I may be patient but I genuinely only have a vague memory of that name, care to cue me in Nieran?"
She managed to hiss again admittedly it was a rather weird and terrifying sound coming from her.
He squirmed and kicked as he continued to struggle against her hold, mumbling under his breath, speaking too quickly to make out much of anything.
@that-prophet-vela
He clung to Myth, growling before shakily getting up, hissing and covering him with his cape, his tail flicking
"We should leave."
Myth looks at you, then casts a glance over his shoulder at Kibidi. "Perhaps it would be for the better, yes. Kibidi, do you think you can take care of Nieran? I want to get Vela somewhere safe, he's been trapped down here long enough."
@kibidi-rp-blog
She looked back at them, she seemed oddly jovial. "Go ahead and head somewhere safe loves. Oh and if you do end up at the Ark please tell my father your names. It might give you more safety this time considering when I snapped at him he seemed to sputter at them."
She turned her head back to Nieran before slamming him into the ground.
"Slowly and Clearly. So I can understand if I should just rough you up or shatter you."
"The Ark! We- we met at the Ark. I was an apprentice there. Under the alchemist."
He attempted to look past Kibidi, towards Myth and Vela, though struggled to move much at all as his ears rang from the impact.
"Vela, was it? If you... Please don't mention me there. I- I can't..."
He hissed, standing, sniffing the air
"Do not so much as breathe my name again"
Myth tugs on Vela's cape. "Let's go. He's not going to be a problem for you and me anymore."
The two of you leave as fast as Myth can drag you without hurting you.
Not too long after Myth and Vela leave there's a moment where she's dead silent before she lifts Nieran up places him on his feet. Only for her to slap him before shaking him.
"YOU SON OF A SHARD RIDDLED CRAB! YOU LEFT ME ON BOOK 4 CHAPTER 6 OF 'TO LOVE IS TO KRILL'! YOU BETTER NOT HAVE READ AHEAD YOU FLOATING FUNGUS! ALSO DO A LITTLE DIGGING AROUND WITH RUMORS BEFORE YOU SET SIGHTS ON THE UNUSUAL! YOU BASICALLY KIDNAPPED MY RESEARCH WHICH HAS CHANGED COURSE AND TITLE THREE TIMES! OH AND IT'S POLITICAL RISK AS WELL YOU UNPREENED FEATHER HEAD!"
She emphasized her point by smacking Nieran on the back of his head.
"I- the- What??"
He just stares at her, thoroughly confused.
"When you got exiled you left at book 4 ch 6- SWEET SARDINE DON'T TELL ME YOU FORGOT ABOUT OUR PARADARK ROMANCE BOOK CLUB!?"
She manages to snag a book and slam it into his chest.
"The plot of book 4 was a scientist falling in love with a Krillkid and the last place we left off was the Krillkid in the midst of meeting the big bad of the book and it was a cliffhanger!"
She slammed her fists on his shoulders like a disgruntled sibling.
"Also don't touch him again, I managed to accidentally earn Lamed's trust with her son I really would rather not lose it just as fast."
He stared at the book for a moment. He had been so out of it those last few months there that he wasn't even sure he had properly read it in the first place...
"I- n-no Kibidi... I didn't forget. And no I have not touched the series since my exile. I've been a bit... Preoccupied, anyway. Not to mention I would have had to reread the whole damn thing. But you- you were just—very understandably—threatening to shatter me over what I did, and now you just turn around and start shouting at me over romance books?? I swear I will never understand you."
He eventually let his arm drop back to his side, still holding the book, given there wasn't really anywhere clean within reach for him to set it. Being tossed around had left quite the mess of potion contents and broken glass.
"And why would I even try to? Both he and that other friend of yours rightfully hate me now, and I only managed to get him here this time because I was able to convince him to drink a potion. "
"What in Eden was in it to knock him out?"
She sat in a basic levitation spell.
"And as for the threat that's because it made you the second person to kidnap Vela. The twins caught him and Myth and brought them to the coliseum to fight that pathetic boy wonder they call a champion. Not to mention I kinda see them as more than friends but that's beside the point."
Kibidi tapped Nieran on the head with her staff, creating a solid sound.
He flinched as she tapped him.
"I assume that's who blinded him then? I did ask him about those wounds, before the potion. He just said it was a fight, though given that whole krillkid hunt or whatever I'm not surprised. As for the potion I- hmm... Dark is all I'll say."
He tugged on his cape as he looked back at where Vela was chained.
"I... Still, I did hurt him. I mean if I knew that you cared about him o-or even that you were uh... Researching him? You said? I wouldn't have even gone near him. Not the point though. I just don't understand why you're not more... Well how you were just a few minutes ago."
"Al still worries about you all the time. Plus I think I injured you well enough that you still got the point. Also I had the seals removed except for 3, if I wanted to shatter you I would've by now."
She leaned back looking at the damaged door.
"I will note that more darkness induces drowsiness in him then, which makes sense since he was comatose at one point in the dark water. But I was studying him yes. What started as a Krillkid behavioral anomaly research became a study of how Darkness effected skykids and then how it effected ancestors to how it effected children of the Elders."
"The potion affects skykids as well. The one I gave him was slightly different to accommodate for less light. I haven't properly tested it on normal krillkids though... I've been so focused on trying to find that moth it must have slipped my mind... Darkness can do a lot of things depending on the environment it's put into. Same with the Light. It's really interesting, to me at least. I mean that's what all this started with! I just..."
He looked at his arm—the one Vela bit. He had covered it with a familiar purple fabric, though some of his light had soaked through. A dull blue rather than gold and its glow was much dimmer than it should be.
"N-no sorry. How has Al been? And the rest of the crew, of course."
She looked at it. "Testing on yourself then others. You really should get some vial samples to test with... Honestly we probably should share notes about this, might benefit both of us."
She then looked at him before landing from her levitation.
"They're all well, though Al tends to stare at the boat between the dock and the Ark. I fear sometimes he still wishes to see you but he's unable to travel beyond the Ark and Aviary outside of Fortune. Perhaps write a boat for him sometime. Though I'm pretty sure I'm going to get an earful when I return to the Ark. If you hear any rumors about a strange messenger of the deer attacking the Valley champion, don't dig into it."
She began to walk towards the door.
"As a reminder, we had 40 seals on my staff. I chose my hands and feet to give you a chance to speak. That champion, not so much."
"What happened to my light was just a collection of stupid mistakes early on, as well as other curiosities that... Couldn't be explored using samples. But I'm glad they're all well. I'll try and write to him if I find the chance... and the words."
He turned, walking to his desk.
"Thank you, Kibidi. I'm sorry for this whole mess I've caused. I never meant for you to be affected by any of this."
She turned and looked back at him from the broken door.
"Just take this chance, and try not to drown in the darkness so much, might do you some good to go somewhere like the forest. Change your study a bit or maybe get lucky and find a witch or wizard. At least there would be more material out there to add to your testing."
She shook her head with a chuckle before walking out across the sands to find Myth and Vela.

@that-prophet-vela
@kibidi-rp-blog

Neiran tried to pull away, his movements growing more and more frantic the closer Vela got.
"No no no no please you... You already- you bit me! Twice! Y-you don't... You don't need to- please."
Vela found himself leaning against the wall of some unfamiliar room as he slipped back into consciousness, Head pounding and both wrists shackled to the wall... Someone else was in the room with him, Pacing and muttering to themself. Nieran.
@bobas-skids
Of course, he couldnt see who this figure was. But hearing the footsteps he didn't even try to repress a hiss.
Really it was more of a clicked growl, exactly as a dark dragon would, as he thrashed around suddenly.
The footsteps approached him now.
"Awake now? That took longer than I expected."
"Sorry for that whole act before though, I really don't like doing that. But of course I had to get you here somehow... Now would you stop thrashing around? You're just wearing yourself out."
Neiran grabbed Vela's left arm, just below the restraint, holding it against the wall before seemingly changing his mind as he stepped back
"no, no. Shouldn't risk that... One moment."
He didn't walk far, now searching through a collection of potions and mumbling to himself again.
A rattling growling echoed as Vela spat at Neiran
"quiet now..."
Finding the potion he was looking for, Neiran walked back. He watched Vela for a moment before grabbing part of his mane, pulling his head back to force the potion down.
Neiran barely escaped another bite but was kicked with one leg as the whole of Vela's mane vibrated harshly
"You won't even live to regret this"
"Damn krillkid this is why you're restrained. Would've been more but I had to work with what I have."
Neiran readjusted his mask, moving to stand in front of Vela, just out of reach.
"Your mane interests me though. What causes it to react like that? Do you feel it when it does?"
He hissed and the whole thing rattled
"Muscle. The type of wich you couldn't hope to compete. Do I indeed still smell your blood? I know I have quite the bite..."
"... Likely."
Neiran stared at his arm; he had taken care of it as well as he could, though it was deep enough he new it was going to take longer to heal. Well that added to the state of his light...
"I notice you don't have a glow."
"No light, no glow. All flesh and blood, though that phrase is long forgotten in its meaning now. I don't bleed light. And forewarning? My blood stains."
He hissed
"interesting."
He moved to his desk, writing something, mumbling to himself. It wasn't long before he finished though, standing in front of Vela again. Just watching him. Studying.
The stone connected to the steel of the chains creaked against his thrashing and simply his weight as his tail flicked, about the length of a normal skykid in itself
Neiran just let this happen for a few minutes before sighing, walking closer.
"I will never understand why everyone tries that..."
He snapped in Neiran's general direction, teeth clacking, but missed without the sight to aim
He moved to Vela's side, grabbing Vela's sleeve and pulling it down to expose his upper arm.
Neiran got the slash of teeth at his hands but managed to expose some of Vela's skin, which was absolutely covered by inactive darkstone, almost forming scales
Acting on impulse, Neiran grabbed Vela by the jaw, forcing the creature's head against the wall with as much strength as he could manage, some of his blood dripping down Vela's neck.
"You and your damn biting I swear."
He laughed manically with a snarled grin
"What were you expecting, me to lay down and settle?"
His tail thrashed quickly
"What in the names of all the stars would you even want with a damned thing like me?"
"Have you seriously not figured that out? I guess I shouldn't be surprised given you just drank the potion after talking to me for what? A couple minutes at most? You're interesting, krillkid. I've never seen anything like you. What do you think I want."
"Well serves me right for thinking to trust damned skykids."
He scoffed
"You want something from me but don't even know what I am. Much less the decency to figure it out."
"What do you think I've been doing?"
He let go, stepping back to stand just out of biting range
"Your height, Closer to the spirits than any Krillkid or Skykid I've seen. You said 'that phrase long forgotten in its meaning,' which implies you must have known the original meaning and noticed the change. Your arm is covered in darkstone, much like that old plague, though it looks far more... Severe than any cases I've heard of. You claim you don't bleed light. You're from back then aren't you? The old kingdom."
"The blood didnt make it obvious?"
He spat in Neiran's direction
"Blindness doesnt stop me hearing where you are. But fine, then. Darkstone across my body, as to avoid you getting a bit too comfortable with stripping me."
He hissed as his tail flicked
"Like I would have gone that far. I'm not that horrible. As for the blood, I wasn't aware that the people of that time didn't bleed light, though it doesn't surprise me. Either way, you assumed me calling you 'krillkid' to imply I didn't care to figure out what you really are, as though I have anything else to call you. I've kept to my word and not pressed you for your name. Besides I doubt you would want to tell, given what I've done. On appearance alone 'krillkid' feels the most fitting, so I will continue to use it unless you tell me otherwise."
He walked further away, back to his desk, writing more notes.
He hissed though visually his eyes darted... a useless action perhaps of habit
"I wonder..."
Picking up a potion, Neiran walked back to Vela, grabbing Vela's jaw and pushing his head back the same as before, though his hold was slightly looser without frustration fueling the motion, Neiran tried again to force the potion down.
Vela bucked his head back quickly, shattering the glass of the bottle and hitting his head hard, coughing and spitting up what potion made it into his mouth, spare what seemed to be the slightest amount
His tail flicked quickly as he spat generally at neiran again hissing
Neiran stepped back, knocking off the glass shards that stuck to his cape
"of course you would. I'll just have to try without it then..."
He went to Vela's side again, this time pulling at his glove
He growled, shifting his hand, though without it the scattered darkstone was evident, traveling up in larger clumps near his forearms to smaller shards along the joints. Oddly, at both wrists there was an odd gathered clumping of darkstone, following along the creases just under the palms.
Neiran stopped, for a moment. Seeing that, he almost felt bad. But he shook it off, picking up a shard from the shattered bottle and pulling up on Vela's arm.
"Please try not to move for this."
He made a small cut into Vela's arm, as close to the gathered darkstone as he could manage
He hissed out as thick, red glops of blood trickled down, seemingly already coagulated and clotted on the inside. His whole body trembled greatly.
Neiran collected what he could into a spare vial before moving to have a better view of Vela.
"Quite the reaction for a small cut, krillkid."
A sudden scream from outside. "HE'S IN THERE!" You recognize the voice; that fancy little accent is impossible to miss. It's Myth, and he's not alone, which you and Nieran find out the second the door is kicked off its hinges. Kibidi is with him, unsurprisingly.
Myth is quick to jump out of Kibidi's arms the second the two of them enter the room. He beelines for you without hesitation, and you feel but do not see him fling himself on you. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry we weren't here sooner, what has this bitch done to you, you're bleeding-"
Neiran unfortunately finds himself kicked away and held at blank staff point. The skykid standing before him.
"To whom do I owe the pleasure of facing for harming and abducting Myth's and I's beloved, hm?"
The force of the kick knocked his mask loose, but he didn't fix it. He couldn't. he was practically frozen in place, his eyes darting between you Myth and Vela.
"How did you find us? Who... I know your voice."
He was growling once more, suddenly thrashing about against the restraints, tail flicking quickly
@storm-prince-ismyth
"Hey, hey, calm down, I'll break you out, okay? I need you to relax first, so I don't hurt you on accident." As he starts gently purring to settle your nerves, he draws his sword out. In the dim lighting, the blade's red glow is a haunting sight. You hear the desperate clack of glass on metal as he tries to hack at your chains.
"I know the sound is weird, but my sword's made of a red shard. I promise it's strong enough to handle the chains, it's just going to be a minute."
"There's probably a key Myth," she didn't turn to look as she dealt with Neiran, "aim at the hinges otherwise. Though I'm curious how he knows my voice... And to answer, Vela effects Eden and with Myth's ties to the storm any changes in Vela's safety or mood hurts Myth while changing the sky."
The end of her staff pointed at Neiran begins to glow brightly.
"Though you might want to answer my previous question."
"Neiran. My- my name is Neiran."
His eyes were fixed on Kibidi now as he swallowed, backing up what little he could.
Vela slowly settled, breathing in deep as he let Myth fix the chains, his eyes shaking as he looked in about the right direction to stare at him, his head drooping tiredly
@storm-prince-ismyth
The chains snap a lot faster than you thought they would, the telltale weightlessness and clattering making themselves known only a minute after Myth started. "It's a good sword, isn't it? Well, you're loose now, at least. I can get you out of here now, once Kibidi finishes with Nieran." You feel his breath against your ear as he whispers to you. "If she lets me, I might even get in on the fun with her, honestly." His breath is surprisingly cold. Has it always been that way?
@kibidi-rp-blog
"Nieran... Why does that name sound familiar...?"
She leaned over and picked Nieran up by the collar of his shirt before chucking him across the room like a wet towel. Aiming to embed him into the wall.
He crashed into the wall, various bottles and potions now shattered on the floor as he collapsed to his knees, his mask now laying on the floor nearby. He stared at the floor, covering his face with his hands and hyperventilating.
"Kibidi? As- as in... Oh no. No no no no NO-"
He moved frantically, scrambling to grab his mask
He purred, quickly shifting his head into the notch of Myth's shoulder, clinging to him in a sense that could only be deemed pathetic, finding his hand to kiss gingerly
"You both....ah I am a fool.....a fool, I see clearly in one regard alone..."
He seemed out of it as his ungloved hands drifted to the cut on his arm...then down to the darkstone at his wrists
Myth lets out a a surprised chirp when you kiss his hand, and he grabs yours in return, holding it like one would a baby bird. You can sense his thumb running back and forth over your wrists, but you can't sense the concern blooming on his face as he looks at them.
"God, you're a wreck. What has he done to you? And why are you calling yourself a fool? No, no, don't answer me now, actually. Let's wait until you're out of here, when you have more than enough time to explain yourself. Here, I'll stay with you. Kibidi seems to have this covered."
"Loves if you need to jet go ahead and jet over to the Ark, I'm getting curious on how this one knows me. Though I'm just as curious on what's on your mind right now Vela."
She lifted up Neiran's mask from the ground and away from him with a basic spell.
"You on the other hand, explain why you're so panicked, hm?"
He didn't respond, instead moving to stand while making sure to cover the lower half of his face with one hand. Whatever he was trying to hide though, he couldn't fully cover as she could see something near his eyes, which were now focused on Vela.
@that-prophet-vela
"Just the cut" he shifted his sleeves back up, "just the cut that's bleeding....lets go...once I have my gloves.....I want my gloves.."
@storm-prince-ismyth
Myth snatches the gloves from off the floor and slips them onto Vela's hands. "Here, I got them, it's alright now. As soon as we get out of here we'll take care of that cut, okay?"
@kibidi-rp-blog
She walked over and lifted Nieran off the floor by his shirt. A strange noise
"Speak."
She spoke with a surprising hiss.
He made a sort of chirping sound as she lifted him, bringing his other hand up to better cover his face.
"I- I didn't know he- you... I never wanted- never meant to... Not you."
Vela found himself leaning against the wall of some unfamiliar room as he slipped back into consciousness, Head pounding and both wrists shackled to the wall... Someone else was in the room with him, Pacing and muttering to themself. Nieran.

@storm-prince-ismyth
@storm-prince-ismyth
@kibidi-rp-blog
@that-prophet-vela
Vela found himself leaning against the wall of some unfamiliar room as he slipped back into consciousness, Head pounding and both wrists shackled to the wall... Someone else was in the room with him, Pacing and muttering to themself. Nieran.
@bobas-skids
