The case for free tampons and pads in schools : NPR
Activists say menstrual products are a basic necessity that shouldn't require a long walk to the school nurse's office, and that providing t
This year, bills related to period equity have been introduced in 37 states, according to Women's Voices For The Earth, a nonprofit advocacy group. But as of this fall, only five states require schools to provide menstrual products. Last month, California became the latest to do so, mandating that public schools and colleges stock free pads, tampons and other products in their restrooms.
21 states poised to ban or severely restrict abortion if Roe v. Wade is overturned : NPR
So-called "trigger laws" in 12 states would automatically enact an abortion ban if Roe is overturned. In nine others, bans that were blocked
Twenty-one states are poised to immediately ban or acutely curtail access to abortions if the Supreme Court chooses to overturn or weaken Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that for nearly 50 years has guaranteed women's right to seek an abortion, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a research group in favor of abortion rights.
At the crux of the legal argument made by the state of Mississippi, which is seeking to overturn Roe, is that the U.S. Constitution is neutral on the matter of abortion — meaning the power to regulate it should rest in the hands of individual states.
"When an issue affects everyone and when the Constitution does not take sides on it, it belongs to the people," said Mississippi solicitor general Scott Stewart during Wednesday's oral arguments over the case, which is known as Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization.
December 17th
December 17th and Mourning the Victims of the Green River Killer
December 17th, as many of you know, is International Day To End Violence Against Sex Workers. What is International Day to End Violence Against Sex Workers, you ask? Well, it’s exactly what it sounds like! It’s a day of remembrance and mourning for those in the sex worker community who’ve lost their lives to the many forms of violence perpetrated by mankind; murder, shame, stigma, religiosity, patriarchy, misogyny, the punitive, carceral criminal justice system. December 17th is an annual day of collective, cathartic rage at and community support within a world that kills sex workers with fear and hate, then erases their lives with sanctimony and indifference.
It is also a day of healing and a time when we come together and remember what we are fighting for and against. Lets never forget that the violence visited to our lives is ongoing and that our beloved trans sisters of color and our indigenous communities suffer levels of institutional and societal violence that will not be alleviated until we come together as one and demand that our lives matter.

Hi there - a friend of mine just bought a cute dress at a supermarket for cheap, but she can't wear it because the shoulders are too narrow. Is there a good way to adjust the shoulders so it'll fit her? All the tutorials I keep finding are for patterns, not already-purchased garments. Thanks for the help!
Dress with narrow shoulders
I've done a few posts in the past that your friend might find useful:
Broadening shoulders
Upsizing armholes
Armpit alterations
How to upsize clothes
Fluctuating sizes
Make sure to pinpoint the exact location of the problem before you start making any alterations.
There's a few things that could cause the shoulders to be too narrow, like the back of the dress not being wide enough, not having enough space in the shoulder area, the armholes being too small, the dress' fasteners not leaving enough room to put an item on,... Once you've figured out the exact problem, you can start looking for ways to fix it.
And if all fails, your friend could always turn the dress into a skirt.
If hating fat people is about hating an unhealthy lifestyle:
Why do fat people get harassed at the gym, while jogging, or while swimming?
Why are fat people expected to cover up more? Changing what they wear will not make them healthier.
Why are thin people allowed to get away with not exercising and with eating all the pizza and bacon they want? If the problem is the unhealthy lifestyle, why doesn’t that apply to everyone?
Never mind. I already know the answer.
Mm, it says here these are facts
I’ll repost time and time again. Y'all don’t give two fucks bout fat people’s health you just project your insecurities on to others and see that as you giving “helpful advice”. You’re not being helpful, you’re being hurtful. Leave fat people alone and practice minding your business

Weird peeve time. Calling lab grown gemstones “fake” is stupid because it’s the same shit just not formed naturally. An artificially grown diamond is the same shit as a natural diamond it is the exact same material bro it’s all fuckign carbon
It’s carbon it’s pretty and it didn’t involve slave labor what’s not to love??? Hi I’m having geology opinions tonight apparently. And I’m right
There is so much bullshit in the diamonds industry to be mad about tbh. It also ties into the bullshit of the wedding industry as a whole but we don’t have the time to unpack all that
not even going to lie, the day i learned i could get like 15 lab grown rubies the size of dimes for $20 is the day i spent $20 on rubies, and i have never once said to myself “man, i wish this cost $1,600 and the lives of eight children to produce”
We are a pro-lab-grown mineral blog here, not only is it massively cheaper but massively more ethical as well in many cases.
another very cool lab grown gem is Moissanite. It has a 9.25 on the mohs hardness scale where diamond is a 10. Moissanote also has a 2.69 refractive index in comparison to diamond’s 2.419 and here is the difference
and the best thing about moissanite? It is all lab grown and it costs only a fraction of what diamond costs. So fuck the diamond indsutry and buy lab grown gems which cost significantly less
Also it’s just cool to think of some mad scientist lookin person doing shit against the law of the universe and making pretty gems for you. Like cmon. This shouldnt be allowed probably. But humans really be like on gOD i want some shiny an just started MAKIN em
for years people wanted alchemy, well now we have alchemy and we’re making gemstones out of it and suddenly “it doesn’t count” anymore

This is true all throughout the year, but I want to highlight these affirmations this Hanukkah. The phrases on these sets are based on a set by @genderqueerpositivity about trans lesbian women. I have a different identity set for each night of Hanukkah, so if you don’t see your identity here, please be patient. =D
And because I’m not Jewish and I want to center Jewish voices, I’ll be featuring a link to a different @shiraglassman story each night.
