Ight so- au where the arcade wasnt saved and that leading to king candy/turbo going insane from the influence of those cybugs right? I'm sure he'd fully believe he's in full control at first cause he doesn't know a damn thing about these bugs, he'd probably just view them as another creature to step on to get ahead, even thinking himself above them. Like a king with new subject to rule over.
Considering his thought process here and his general confidence in himself, he'd ignore the first signs of anything possibly being wrong cause he's turbo! No bug could possibly best him, that bugs consciousness is surely gone- how could it ever survive his reign? None of these bugs could handle his turbo-tastic influence!
So he ignores that lingering itch in his mind anytime he sees something that glows, assuming perhaps the lights are just too bright for his liking, he can fix that with ease.
And the growing hunger, he's always hungered for attention and power, surely this is no different, he's fine.
So imagine the growing horror when he slowly starts to realize that maybe..he didn't have as much control as he thought..not as much as he hoped to have.
It starts when he found himself ravaging a games code in a hungery haze- this- this wasn't what he wanted! He wanted to be the best in every game! Not- not consume them all! If they're all gone then no player will see him- they'll..they'll forget about him and he REFUSES to let that happen- even if he needs another new identity, eyes WILL be on him and NO ONE will get in his way.
He couldn't let this happen again, this was merely a mishap- an impulse, he reasoned with himself into believing. Despite the nagging thought of how fulfilling it was, how it finally squashed that evergrowing hunger for just a moment..
He's still in control, he's telling himself, he's still in control, he has to be, it'd- it'd be impossible for him not to be!
..right?
So he keeps trying to justify any bug related impulse he struggles to control as his own choices, desperately trying to keep himself convinced that he's still in control, that he's the biggest threat here. That glowing light? He just happens to like lights, it's more useful to him still in tact, shut up don't question it- and all that code he ate? He just wanted to narrow down all the games he'd be the main attraction in- it's tiring to run a whole arcade himself afterall, he only really needs a handful of these machines..and over time the number of arcade games he plans to keep for himself grows smaller and smaller until it's just one.
By this point deep down he knows he's losing himself but he refuses to admit it, he cant bring himself to. He's still in control- he just has..a different interest in mind now, he's still better than the rest of these bugs. He has nothing to worry about! The voice in his head? Don't worry about that, it's nothing.
Then he can hardly recognize himself, who is he..? King candy?..a bug?..t u r b o?
His mind has long become corrupted with these urges and impulses- rather than justify these as things he chooses to do because they happen to benefit him in that very moment, he sees these impulses as a need. He needs code. He needs those pretty bright lights..he doesn't deserve anything less than that- he's a king, of what? He's struggling to remember but he knows his hunger goes beyond code..
he wants more
