LINCOLN " LINK " MURPHY, the resurrected father of augustine murphy. a psychic with the ability of psychometry; touching an object, surface or person allows him to see its past. compassionate to a fault, he puts his son first no matter the cost. in his youth, he was roommates with vincent thorpe. on the day of his death, he was stabbed fifteen times and placed in a grave marked only with a painted cross that read " LINK MURPHY, ONCE FATHER, FAILED HUSBAND. " he is the owner and keeper of third - eye estate in san francisco, california; inherited from his father, and his mother before him ⸺ onward from parent to firstborn for almost five centuries.

despite all the horrors it has brought them, and their family, he is proud of his son and supportive of their ventures, friendships and budding bonds. he is welcoming to all beings, especially outcasts and will provide refuge to any who need help without thought.

CRESSIDA ELMINSTER, a reichenbach academy transfer student in her youth, and nevermore alumni. cressida is the estranged mother of augustine murphy and the murderer of both her son and her ex - husband ( the homicide was the divorce ), lincoln murphy. a psychic with a penchant for telepathy and foresight. when her son was born and her sight foretold that he would inherit neither her nor her husband's abilities but rather the abilities of her grandmother, she deemed it a curse.

her desire to kill augustine commenced when he was nine but was intercepted by her husband, who also fell victim. she buried her son in an unmarked grave in the back of the estate, and her husband was placed into a marked one. this event triggered the awakening of augustine's abilities, resurrecting him necromantically and resulting in him doing the same for his father once he clawed his way out of the earth. after this, neither her husband nor her son saw her again but she will occasionally send letters to remind them that they have disturbed the natural balance of the world.
