Posting a work-in-progress. The docks at Stanley Park. Based off a photo I took while I was in Vancouver. For this, I tried to get the colours as close as possible to the reference, while still keeping it bright and unified. I've always been a fan of Impressionism so I tried emulating impressionistic techniques, especially with the foliage and reflections. I still need to loosen up my brush strokes though, they're looking a little too refined on some parts. Acrylics on 16x20 canvas

Happy birthday, Ma~
This is supposed to be therapeutic.
I went to a paint night session with a friend and we were supposed to paint Dandelions. Mine looked like cotton balls haha

I tried Urban Sketching today… But I based it off a photo I took in the Louvre, Paris in 2013. One day I’ll actually go out and do it on the go~
I started a watercolour journal! First few entries were from Bragg Creek, when my research group went on a retreat last June. Then some swatches I did for Sakura Koi and Pentel Arts watercolours (somebody please gimme money so I can buy M. Graham & Co. Watercolours 😭). The sketchbook is 7"x5" so it'll be easy to bring on my travels! It was a gift from Supervisor, Sheelagh, back in 2013 (and I'm only making good use of it 3 years after). I'm looking forward to sketching and painting at a cafe, while having a good late.
Watercolour Painting There are so many things I love about watercolours. For one, there's a hint of unpredictability of how the paint flows (especially wet-on-wet washes). I feel like it's a good exercise on letting go and going with the flow. To stop overthinking about perfection, but to strive on showing emotion.
