Why films deserve to win Best Picture Oscars: A combination of artistic achievement, acting, directing, writing, and technical achievement.

Things that don’t make a film deserving of a Best Picture Oscar: Representation of certain demographics (among both the cast and creators), popularity, box office performance, social commentary, because it’s your personal favorite, because the creators and content aren’t “problematic”.

The academy is also biased towards/against certain genres. They like dramas, epics, historical stories (real and fictional), and biopics. They shy away from horror, action, and most comedies (except dramadies, they like those too).

Please keep this in mind before throwing your ridiculous temper tantrums if a certain film doesn’t win.
