Sweet Little Lies - Chapter 12
Today was the day, the day I felt I had been waiting for my entire life. Yet I wasnât happy or excited, in fact I was anxious, nervous, scared; you get the drift. My thumbnail was between my teeth as I stared out of the window on nothing in particular. It was the final game of the season and it was at home, it was also the final day of our secret, of just the two of us knowing. We had arranged a meal with all of our friends, the table had been booked, the dresses had been bought, obviously, and now it was just a matter of waiting. Waiting ninety minutes plus an hour to get ready, and everyone would know.
 I thought I would feel a lot different than what I did. I thought I wouldnât be able to contain my excitement, not be able to sit still with anticipation. Well I couldnât sit still. I was pacing my living room floor staring into space going over and over and over everyoneâs reactions, one by one. Carles would be mad and obviously now Nina would side with him, Saniya would be appalled and feel as though Iâd betrayed her. I closed my eyes before my thoughts got the better of me and took a deep breath. This was just the worst case scenario, I hoped and prayed to god this would not happen. As I breathed out all of the negativity in my chest my phone vibrated in my hand. It was a text off David;
 Just arrived. Stop worrying, everything will be fine :-) see you later me amour xxxx
 As smiled as I read the text a second time. Although we had decided this together because it was something I wanted, we both wanted, right from the start I voiced my concerns too him, obviously with every problem he had an answer as to why that wouldnât happen. But as today grew ever closer, my concerns grew ever stronger against his weakening answers. It had to be done, for the good of our sanity, neither of us could continue lying to our friends much longer, especially after he had asked me to live with him.
 It was three weeks ago, a week after he had moved into his new house. I wanted too, but pointed out that it would be hard to come up with a valid excuse as to why I would be living with him. It was then that we decided to just tell everyone, then at least they would have the summer to get over it.
 I just needed to stop thinking, this was my main issue, thinking, and thinking, and over thinking some more, to the point were it drove me close to insanity. I stopped my pacing abruptly and glanced at the clock on the wall âshitâ I muttered before scrolling through my phone until I found Ninaâs number;
 Hola sweetie, going to be a tad late, save me a seat, mwwah xx
 I pressed send, gulped my coffee down before sprinting to the bathroom.
 âowwwhhâ she sighed staring down at her phone,
 âwhats up baby?â Carles asked pulling his shirt over his head
 âSaniya and Anja are both going to be lateâ she pouted at him as he picked up his bag,
 âso Carles! Im going to be rocking up at the stadium alone, how pathetic will that look?â she sighed looking down into her lap, he chuckled and took a coupe of steps towards her, holding her head and kissing it,
 âthe captain is going to be late if he doesnât get a move onâ he whispered as she raised her head, he smiled down to her, then shrugged his shoulders, âsimple babe, you be late as wellâ he winked before planting a firm kiss on her lips âlove youâ he shouted from the door before he slammed it shut behind him.
 She kept her eyes on the spot he had just disappeared from and smiled. She sighed into her smile and spun around on the stool. She was all ready, her dress was on; a red maxi, her hair was done; loose curls, and her nails and make up were done. She was ready to goshe picked up her phone and text Anja that she would pick her up, no need for two cars. This would solve the problem.
 She hoped from the stool, rinsed her glass and made her way into the bedroom as her phone buzzed, Anja was happy with her idea. She smiled down at her phone and opened the door, as she looked up she stood frozen in the doorway. The bed was completely covered in rose petals, with a huge bunch of flowers placed on the nightstand, the biggest she had ever seen. Unlit candles were placed all over the room and two velvet boxes lay on the centre of the bed. She felt her heart beat race as she stared open mouthed around the room. She had no idea what this was, or why it was done, or even, whom it was for.
 As though she was about to wake a sleeping baby, she tiptoed around the room to the nightstand that held the flowers. She leaned over them and swallowed hard as she picked up the card and turned it over in her hands. Immediately her breath caught in her mouth in his family handwriting he had scrawled her name on the envelope. Holding it between her fingers for a second longer she decided against all of her impulses and carefully placed the card back in the flowers. Taking one last glance around the room she smiled, picked up her bag and skipped out of the room.
 She hummed along to her favourite David Guetta song as she fingered her way through the dresses in the closet. Her hair was done; classic straight, and her make up was perfected. She heard his heavy footsteps approaching from the hallway, she grinned to herself picked out her tiniest dress and spun around holding it against her; âwhat do you think?â she asked seductively.
 He looked up from his phone and stopped in his tracks, âwhat for?â he asked, his eyebrows raised,
 âtoday Cesc, what else?â she rolled her eyes and placed her arm on her hip smiling,
 âummmâ he rubbed the back of his neck as she bit her lip, oh how she loved playing with him, âbabe, I love it, really, but do you think its appropriate for today? With your family being there and allâŠâ
 she rolled her eyes and turned back to the closet ârelaaaax I was playingâ she shuck her head and pushed some of her hangers aside, not really looking at the dresses, but wishing that just once he wouldnât try and please everyone, but thought of himself instead. Just as she pushed the fourth hanger aside she felt a pair of strong arms wrap themselves around her waist. She bit her lip in an attempt to keep the grin from appearing on her face, to no avail. He buried his face in the curve in her neck and planted a soft kiss.
 âyou know I love that dressâ his warm breath on her skin sent goosebumps over her body, âsooooâ he kissed her again, âhow about, we save it for the meal tonight, aaanndâ he kissed her again as she bit her lip, âwhen we come home I can rip it off of you?â
 She lowered her gaze to her face to find him staring up at her, his puppy dog eyes were always too hard for her to resist, she giggled and leaned her head against his, âfineâ
 âGreat!â he stud up straight, squeezed her tighter around the waist, kissed her neck once more, âright, Carles is waiting outside, Iâll see you later sexy legsâ he winked as he walked backwards towards the door, causing her to chuckle at him.
 âgo!â she shuck her head and gestured for him to leave, shaking her head and pulling a dress from the closet that would do. She heard the door close and sighed. She wanted the summer to hurry its sweet ass up and arrive already. They had both decided to come clean about their relationship, the date had been set, half way through the group trip to Ibiza. It was the perfect plan, everyone would be so chilled, relaxed and sun kissed that there was absolutely no way anyone could be angry.
 She smiled smugly to herself at the thought. It was decided a few weeks ago whilst there was an international break amidst some tense moments, the first in fact, between herself and Cesc. With it being international week, and being at home in Valencia to be exact, the girls had decided to take a road trip and follow the guys along. On said trip she and one Sergio Ramos had become quite close. But not THAT close, as she had reassured Cesc over and over countless times, until one evening after she received a text from him, a perfectly innocent text, he hit the roof. Words were said, feelings became known, and great make up sex was had, they decided on the time of the revelation but had made their relationship official between themselves. It seemed the prospect of losing Saniya scared Cesc into putting his foot down, and wanting her exclusively for himself, much to the joy of Saniya.
 She opened the drawer for her underwear; as she picked up a navy twinset, a piece of scarlet silk peeked out from her pile of underwear, it caught her eye instantly and she pulled it clean out. She grinned to herself, it was a piece of the sexy underwear she wore that evening, it always sent Cesc wild, she rummaged a little deeper and found the matching bra. Quickly stuffing the navy twinset back in the drawer she turned and changed quickly, noticing the time.
 âHiii sorry im lateâ she whispered into my ear,
 I turned and peeked over my sunglasses, âwe were about to send out a search partyâ I replied sarcastically as Saniya took her seat clutching the match program as the players took to the pitch.
 âvery funnyâ she whispered, âanyway, havenât missed much clearlyâ
 as the match got underway and the other women in the box became a little less interested with each passing minute so finally I got a chance to catch up with my girls, whilst keeping one eye on the match of course.
 âheard from Sergio Saniya?â asked Nina with a whisper,
 for a second she was about to scoff at her comment, but she resisted, looking to dampen Ninaâs excitement, âwhaa? Him? naaaaâ
 âwhat?â I asked, disappointed, âwhy not? Hot piece of Spanish ass was clearly into youâ I winked, very clearly, from behind my shades, they seemed to right for each other, and more importantly I hoped her fling with Cesc had cooled. She rolled her eyes at my comment,
 âfine then, thatâs what you think, you date himâ she raised her eyebrow at me as she sipped her wine. I gulped and felt my cheeks heat up quickly, I felt a tap on my left arm,
 âyes! Yes! Anja why not?â asked Nina excitedly, I shuck my head and frowned,
 âare you two totally mental?â
 âno, no its perfect Anja!â nina rounded on me in her seat, I could literally feel my throat closing over, âhes cute, your gorgeous, oh.my.god youâd be so perf-â
 âStop! Shush!â I closed my eyes and raised my hand,
 âNo! Nina, stop, no, never gonna happen okay?â my insistance silenced her as she shuck her head and took a sip of wine. I could tell what was happening. She felt guilty, for some reason, with my abrupt exit from our lunch a few weeks ago. Since then both her and Carles had tried to push me into the arms of Jordi Alba, Xavi, Busi and now Ramos. I shuck my head and began to plead for the arrival of the meal tonight and finally all of this could be put to bed.
 I was quickly brought from my thoughts by a tremendous roar from the crowd, I looked down to see the ball in the back of the net and David running along towards the corner flag. Inside the box I was the first off my seat, I jumped and cheered as both Nina and Saniya stood and clapped. I was still screaming and jumping as David was brought to his feet by his team mates. He began to jog to the centre circle as I was still cheering. He looked up to the box, brought his fingers to his lips and kissed in my direction. I was about cheer when one was escaping from the mouth to my right.
 I stopped clapping and cheering as Saniya turned to myself and Nina, scrunched her face and raised his shoulders,
 âAwww he remembered his little sis in his celebrationâ Nina reached over and joined her celebration as a knot formed in the pit of my stomach. I sat down instantly. The girls began to speak across me when I realised my glass was empty. âIâm just going for a top up.â
 Two more goals went in. Carles and Gerry played their hearts out in defense, as the close of the season was drawing closer by each second. We were all talking, with ten minutes remaining of the match when another roar erupted around the ground, except this time, it was not in elation. We stood up in unison to see the referee brandishing a red card, with a huddle of Barca players surrounding the referee, but who was it?, we stood for a moment until finally Cesc emerged from the group shaking his head and making his way down the tunnel.
 âwhaaaat?â I joined in with the crowd,
 âno way, not Cescâ Nina shuck her head in disgust
  we remained on our feet watching the replay on the big screens until Cesc had disappeared down the tunnel. We sat back down in silence then noticed the absence of Saniya.
 âshe mustâve gone the toilet, mused Nina,
 I nodded my head but bit my lip and remained silent, hoping and praying my thoughts were wrong.
She ran down the stairs holding her dress, her heels scraping along the cement. She ran for at least ten minutes until she came to a set of double doors, she pushed them open and descended another set of stairs. The security guard, who knew her pretty well allowed her through. She slowed down her pace, not knowing where she was going, but guessing she was in the right place. As she approached each door, she read the sign and moved to the next until finally, she was at the one she wanted. She left go of her dress and pushed the door open, she sound of running water in the distance told her she wasnât alone. She followed the sound until she came to a set of sinks and froze. She took a deep breath and bit her lip.
 He stood hunched over the sink, his head bowed, his hands clutching either side. Suddenly, all at once, the stood up straight switched off the water and turned around. He jumped and leaned back against the sink;
 âJeeeeesh Saniya! You nearly gave me a heart attack!â whilst he composed his breathing she slowly made her way over to him, as his gaze remained fixed on the floor, unable to look at her. She stood mere inches away, and still he refused to look up at her.
 âCescâ she whispered delicately, âlook at meâ but still he wouldnât, he blinked and lowered his head further. She closed the gap between them completely, hooked her index finger underneath his chin and gently guided his face up to hers. Finally his eyelashes fluttered and his eyes rested on hers, no words were needed, he did not need to voice his embarrassment. She need not voice her love, she caressed his cheek and brushed her lips on his. âyouâre not alone babeâ she whispered as their noses touched. The corner of his lips turned up a little,
 âthank you Saniyaâ he breathed, âyou donât know how muchâ his hand reached around the back of her neck sending shivers down her spine as his fingers stroked her skin gently. He pushed her head closer to him once more as his tongue began to explore her mouth. His other hand ran down her back pulling her body closer to his own. Just as she wrapped her hands around his neck, something stopped them.
 âSaniya?â a familiar voice pulled them apart instantly. She spun around on the spot. There David stood, eyes wide open,
 âDavid!â Cesc exclaimed, âI can explain..â
 âSaniya, leave please.â His eyes never left Cesc,
 âno David, im staying..â her voice was shaking with terror,
 âSaniya!! Leave. Now!â when she remained standing close to Cesc, âSaniya, players only, leave, now!â
 Cesc nudged her back and she turned to look at him, he nodded and turned his head to the door. She took one last glance a David and finally walked past David and out the locker room.
 David stood there staring at Cesc, unblinking, refusing to speak first. Cesc took a deep breath and brought his finger and thumb across his eyes. âLook David..â
 âDo not take advantage of my sister Cesc.â His voice was full of anger as Cesc shot his head up once more,
 âWhat? I wouldnât! I never would!â
 âyeah? Well thatâs not what ive just seen! I know your angry, but you donât use my sister..â
 âDavid, im not, I wont I swearâŠâ
 âNo Cesc, thatâs it. No more, no one, and I mean no one, uses my sister like that..
 Exasperated Cesc took a deep breath and threw his head back, âIm not using her David, I love her for godâs sake!â his outburst rung between them for a second, before he gained his composure and shrugged his shoulders, âI have done for months, I will do for as long as I breathe.â
 The silence hung over them for a second, before David finally replied, ânoâ he shuck his head, âyou donât, its your emotions all over the place, and youâre pulling her into it, and I wont, I wont allow you too Cesc..â
 âNO CESC! You listenâ David raised his voice, his finger pointing at him âyou leave her alone, no, no, you leave her alone or a swear..â
 âyou swear what, huh?â
 âIâll make your life a miseryâ once again they ascended into silence, before once again David spoke, ânow, here are you optionsâ
