on 12 april 2009 I posted my first image on tumblr; this one of the view from my aunt’s hallway. my aunt had recently died and my family were clearing her house; i’m sure that the loss contributed to my sense of urgency about making or doing something, anything. making a website was daunting but tumblr was easy to use, even for a technophobe like me. so i started, simply, and unusually for me, i carried on. it was a place to experiment, record moments and create without having to worry very much about it. most importantly it was out there.
ten years later, a lot has changed - i have, tumblr has. instagram appeared and gradually took over as the place where i would record daily impressions and share small moments. in january i started an evening class and shortly after finishing it i published my first website:

at this point it feels like me and tumblr are going in different directions. it’s been a wonderful resource and tool but it seems like the right time to stop.
