I think I’ve made my inactivity more than obvious. You’ll see, after I went on hiatus in my main blog (hiistoricalpuns; returning next week), I had the worse week in my student life. It demotivated me, and when I logged in here again, I just procrastinated replies I didn’t want to do. I pretty much lost my muse. I don’t know if I can take it up, but for now, and to focus on my main and Peter (steviisms, only active during Christmas time), I’ll leave this blog as an archive. if someday I motivate myself to open it up again, I’m totally letting you know! Love you all lots, and thanks for roleplaying with me

      "Jacques Chevalier, let the pleasure be mine. And so, for mere courtesy, and curiosity of my own, what brought you to this part of Paris? I do not recall your face."

   Ah. A sense of shame flooded up from Fantine’s stomach, her cheeks burning slightly. She had been so inept as to take such a man for a customer? They could be… odd, off, but how could she have not noticed that look in his eye? It was the same she saw in her own if she caught glance of them in a mirror.

   ”Fantine,” she supplied, standing a little straighter still, more of her old posture, one that had not yet fallen. Even if she was far from being a young maid, the men seemed to find her name funny, some enquiring its origin. Some were told the answer—given by a stranger, never seen again, taken by a girl no one wished to see. She was normally told to lighten up after such a tale, but a few, they liked it when her face turned stormy and her lips turned down. 

   She hated those ones.

     Compared to the rest of the workers, this Fantine indeed seemed...odd. In a way...she was still new in this. Unlike some of the other ladies, where they were so easily used to this, she still seemed so broken, her innocence and hope somewhere in her heart, just rotting, getting worse day by day, hour by hour, man by man. Something on her. She did this for more than her survival. She had a reason. And the puzzle solved itself. Her child. Fantine had someone who loved her, someone to fight misery for. It made Jaq feel both sympathy and utter jealousy. She had someone. He? Not.

          "A pleasure, madame," Was his only response. As he stood up, he felt a small stroke on his arse, his body tensing as he turned to see a man. Not much older than him, perhaps charming if his perverted smirk didn't spoiled his features. "We should talk later..." Jacques mouthed, as he nodded to the man, his wrist taken roughly and dragged to the closest room. 10 francs and his trousers were down.

               Half an hour, and Jacques was out. Fixing the buttons of his shirt, while dark eyes searched for the once-beautiful slaughtered blonde hair.

     He knew it from the electricity in the air, from the shadows in his fever dreams, and the whispers in the wind: the revolution was doomed to fail. Every moment he spent in their company, their jester and their skeptic, was another nail in the coffins they’d never see. 

     Harbinger. The curse he’d known since he was a boy. Where there would be tragedy, Grantaire was drawn with a gravity he could deny no more than the air in his lungs. Disaster and ruin were ever on his heels and yet nothing could change it. His words constantly fell on deaf ears. And who would believe him now? Just a drunk, lost to the madness of spirits and opiates. 

     And yet he couldn’t look away, couldn’t force himself to leave. These boys with their dreams and their hope would die violent, bloody deaths, and still he sat with them, drank with them, called them his friends. 

     Harbinger. Masochist. The two seemed forever intertwined. 

     The steps to their back room creaked with the arrival of another revolutionary and at first, Grantaire refused to stir from where he’d sat, but as they drew closer the air grew heavier, thicker in his lungs. Tragedy since past. It was not a sign he felt often in these halls of revolution. Blue eyes, dulled with spirits now bright with curiosity, flickered over to the new arrival. He poured himself another glass and crossed the room with a boxer’s grace, spirits be damned. "And which of our merry revolutionaries recruited you?”

     It was decided. Jacques was willing to be part of this revolution. Even when it was not made clear, he knew in the battlefield he'd be stepping into. It wouldn't be easy, considering the strength of the French government, and blood would be spilled. He knew the danger, but his survival was ensured. He would survive, for France, but above that, for his father. That loving man, he could not leave him alone after all he did for him. He'd make it out, just for him. And hopefully, to see a new France rise.

          After ensuring his place in the movement with the blonde leader, the newest member of 'les Amis de l'ABC' made his way through the room. While he waved and presented himself to each of the students, his head had to turn around to attend a man's voice. A man who, if Jacques was not mistaken, had been seeing him before. He was really sensible to the stares of others, a feeling innate in him, and only developed to be stronger as years passed. Especially through his unfortunate events, months in which he knew what he'd have to do by simply sensing the darkened eyes of a man over his youthful body.

               "No one," Was Jacques' response, as he scooted over a chair and sat besides the man. His odour certainly made his nose wrinkle, not fond of alcohol in the least. But he successfully pulled out a grin. "In fact, I feel like fate brought me here. Well, actually it was a dreadful rain, and the need of a warm fireplace. But certainly I found much more than that," His lips curved, now in a more sincere way. "My name is Jacques Chevalier, and you may be..?"

The scrape of a chair across the wooden floor of the tavern sounded as Enjoras pulled a chair out, sinking into it, eyes alert as he regarded the movements and conversations of the lives around him. He nodded quietly to the man across the table, still silent. Now was a time for watching - after giving these people a reason to listen, he’d been speaking for a long while. He liked to watch their reactions and listen in on their thoughts afterwards.

     After seeing himself surrounded by chatting students and even some drunken gentlemen, Jacques knew he was alone for the evening. While he wanted to talk to each of them, he found no words to use, plus he wanted to be interruption to no one. So he quietly sat, taking a sip of wine from his own cup. His eyes fell on whom would be his new leader. His words had won over Jacques, so kindly, just after replying to the nod, he stood up, making his way between the debating man, just to take a sit besides the other. "Bon nuit, monsieur."
