"If I stay and go with you will you call the police?" Rose countered, looking offended at the comment about eating, "I ate this morning. I'm just naturally skinny."
And he probably didn't eat enough.
His head tilted at the comment about people like them. "You're a demi-god too?" Or a monster and this was a trap... but it didn't feel like that.
And he wasn't sure he could get away without causing too much of a scene, which he definitely didn't want.
"Swear that after we've eaten, if I want to leave then I can..."
"Demi-god? I'm not sure. I was created in a lab from DNA found on Excalibur. One set must have belonged to King Arthur because I was later able to extract her from her stone and..."
His history could be complex.
"I'm King of Avalon, and my throne is in Camelot. I'm visiting the man that saved me...raised me...here in this city. But most of the time I am there."
Avalon had risen from the sea two years ago. Not everyone could enter. Powerful magic protected it from those who wished it or it's inhabitants harm. It was a highly technologically advanced kingdom. A sister kingdom to Atlantis which was still beneath the sea.
"My name is Magnus. And I want you to know that anytime you need food...as long as the shop is open, you can go there to get it. But no, I will not call the police."
He also did not fully let go of the other. Instead, he kept their hands joined as he led the way towards the little restaurant where he had spent some of his teen years waiting tables.
He didn't want to let go of the un-named pickpocket.
It wasn't long before he led them in through the back and towards a seat near the kitchen. Here, he finally let their hand go, and handed over a menu.
"Order anything that you like. Except for the alcohol. I would need some ID for that."
