Our pepper and tomato plants are looking great! Every year we start them early in our grow room and transplant them outside in May. Our employees enjoy these and other fresh vegetables from May to October!
Lemon Cucumber: This unusual, eye-catching lemon-sized cucumber has excellent flavor and is a great slicer or pickler. It is scrumptious eaten with the skin and all just like you would an apple.
Botanical Interests Employee Spotlight: Joel is our production manager. He makes sure the packing process runs smoothly from the time that the seed arrives to when it goes out to garden centers across the country. He was born in Guanajuato, Mexico, and came to the states when he was 12. He now lives with his wife and 4 children in Colorado. He loves to play soccer and hopes to visit the Bahamas some day!

Employee spotlight: It takes a lot of time to find seed for 600 varieties! But Alex uses his connections from his market grower days to find us the best seed available. Then it gets hauled in in huge seed bags, where we send a sample off for germination testing. When heās not in the seed bins, Alex plays the guitar and loves a good Bill Murray flick.
#Pepper growing tip: Temperature is crucial for starting peppers. Pepper seeds germinate much faster if the soil/media is kept at 70°ā90°F. At cooler temperatures, they can either fail to sprout, or sprouting may take a month. Learn more about growing peppers: http://ift.tt/2ioECSq
