2026 soon. I decided that my new year's resolution this next year (which I'm not really one for usually) is to start trying to take care of myself a little more. Lately it's been feeling like the end of 2022, beginning of 2023... Around the time that I started posting on this blog actually. I had a really awful period of time starting right after then and lasting until, I dunno, maybe the beginning of last year/2024. But just before that time things felt very promising - that's where I feel like I'm at now. I feel like I have been a little depressed at times since I moved, but I know it was really for the best and I think that I'm on track to have some very happy times again in the future. I started this job with a wastewater district in the suburbs, I love it, it's exactly what I loved about having a job in public utilities back home. I never want to go back to the private sector. Driving another early 00s tuner car, a lot like the subaru that I loved so much, the one that I sold the catalytic converter off of when I was unemployed and broke. 3 years, 6 jobs with varying degrees of meniality, 4 cars later - here I am in another 2000s tuner car

Friday... Friday. I start work on Monday - industrial mechanic in an automotive factory. Not sure how long I will stick around there as I'm fairly partial to not going deaf or getting cancer, and I'm still interviewing for a few jobs in public utilities, which I'd really prefer to working in the private sector for the rest of my life if I can avoid it. In particular, it's looking like a job as a maintenance guy at a wastewater plant around here might pan out. I was talking to Weston on the phone a few days ago, we kept laughing about the idea of me working in a wastewater plant, that I "couldn't hack it in freshwater here," that my life was over. He said, "you went there for love bro... I'm sorry" it made me laugh really hard. I used to tell people that I was a mechanic at a water treatment plant back home, and then they would assume I meant wastewater and I'd scramble to be like "no it's not shitwater it's not the shit plant" guess I don't have that going for me anymore - may as well be Scotty Shitman if I take this job. I got accepted into the community college here, looking like I'll be taking some civil engineering courses next fall. I would really like to start sooner, but it would be way cheaper if I just waited until I've been a resident of Illinois for a year. Besides, next year I'll be 24 and fafsa independent finally so it will probably be super cheap. Hopefully I won't even have to take out any loans or whatever. Me and Weston were also laughing about how my most popular post on this website keeps getting reposted by ethel cain aesthetic blogs and being tagged as "girlcore" or whatever, which doesn't bother me at all I just think it's really funny. The "missing you in Appalachia" postcard I made - I made it for my beautiful girlfriend when we first started dating and we were long distance. I'm sitting in my living room on my couch with my dog listening to real nice soul, isaac hayes, blue magic, minnie riperton etc., don't got shit to do for the rest of the day... Nice. Great end to my summer/fall funemployment
