This is my favorite load-bearing pole in the world. It never fails to tickle me. This sign has been there for at least 2 years. The decision to put a basket of Ricola in front of it to make it harder to walk into is a new one, and suggests to me that the sign was not getting the job done.

This is Abbott Square, the downtown gathering space in Santa Cruz. My son Zach and I start our morning here a couple days a week before he goes to his job, because our favorite coffee shop, Cat and Cloud, has a location there.
