I agree, but I also think that focusing on the “trigger” aspect kind of threatens to derail the conversation a little. Lots of experienced subjects don’t necessarily require a specific induction or trigger to go under for something like “…and sleep”, because their subconscious recognizes the contextual cue as an invitation to go into trance even if it was never formally established. That isn’t to say that they’ll actually go into a trance, but the point is that it doesn’t have to be an open trigger. Using trancey language like this is just as bad as trying someone’s trigger without their permission, even if we can all agree that this particular person is thankfully as inept as they are creepy.

And even if you, the wouldbe wannabe hypnotist don’t think this is going to work and you’re just saying it as a “joke”… don’t. There’s a very uncomfortable sensation that happens when the conscious mind has to overrule the subconscious and stop it from going into a trance state, whether that’s from hearing a trigger used by someone you don’t want trancing you or receiving a command to drop from someone you don’t want dropping you. It’s not pleasant, it’s not funny, and besides we all know that it was never a joke in the first place. Just. Don’t.
