i hate it when i cant even write a poem about something because its too obvious. like in the airbnb i was at i guess it used to be a kids room cause you could see the imprint of one little glow in the dark star that had been missed and painted over in landlord white. like that's a poem already what's the point
you get it. you get the themes. i dont have time to do it justice. just look at it its on the ceiling
when I can't write, something too obvious like the imprint of one glow in the dark star
paints the poem, the themes
do it justice
look at it
I wish there were more people who not only loved Leigh Bardugo's universe but also her showstopping writing. There are 3 things that I love about her Six of Crows duology: world building, characters, and dialogue.
At the start of each of her books, there are detailed, relevant maps that are logical and highly well-thought through. The insane amount of knowledge the reader gains after reading just two books is all due to proper planning and seamless writing. Not only does she touch on the basic differences between each nation, but Leigh also speaks on culture, religion, historical figures and events, physical appearance, and economics. The author clearly has experience and broad-ended knowledge on the entire world, down to the crumbs.
Our main characters: Jesper, Wylan, Kaz, Inej, Nina, and Matthias, each get their own backstories and personalities that feel so utterly real. Their inner turmoil and relationships with other characters as well as developments are subtly seen. The characters grow and overcome something that's ingrained in them.
Jesper: escaping from his Fabrikator abilities, running away from responsibilities, and Kaz's forgiveness
Inej: the manacles that the Menagerie chained her with, the Iron Blade/her shadow, remaining faithful and true
Kaz: trauma and physical touch, letting himself be vulnerable
Matthias: breaking away from the iron beliefs that the Fjerdans drilled into him, loving Nina and the Crows
Wylan: letting himself be successful despite dyslexia, escaping from the clutches of Van Eck, finding Marya
Nina: saving Grishas, jurda parem
Finally, dialogue that is compelling and funny is something unexpected from such a dark and ambitious story. The bantering and conversations between all characters are absolutely enchanting. Nothing more to say.
Leigh Bardugo was born for writing. This story is stuck in my brain.
list of tragic books that reached past my heart and into my soul pt. 1 1. we were liars 2. the book thief 3. between shades of grey 4. it’s kind of a funny story
She’s the Man is one of the most enjoyable movies ever ngl
nico di angelo is overrated. I’m sorry.
K-dramas and C-dramas really are something else. I did more screaming and running around while watching Business Proposal than in all of the white romance movies I’ve watched combined.
why do I get notes every day from this
!! Elimination Ranking for A:TLA Characters !!
Would it kill kpop idols to not be so attractive wtf
The Carnivorous Carnival (A Series of Unfortunate Events) insulting contortionists and ambidextrous people throughout the book was one of the highlights of the novel.
K-dramas and C-dramas really are something else. I did more screaming and running around while watching Business Proposal than in all of the western romance movies I’ve watched combined.
why is it that all memes on quora are from tumblr but all memes on tumblr are from twitter
!! Sorting the 7 in Hogwarts Houses (Vibes vs. Traits) !!
1. Annabeth Chase
Vibes: Slytherin Even though Annabeth is obviously a Ravenclaw, the way she’s described remind me of a Slytherin
Traits: Ravenclaw Obviously
2. Piper McLean
Vibes: Gryffindor Piper is strong and brave + she seems to value bravery
Traits: Housestall between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff She’s a Gryffindor for reasons above but Piper is loving, patient and loyal
3. Frank Zhang
Vibes: Hufflepuff He’s such a cinnamon roll <3
Traits: Housestall between Slytherin and Hufflepuff He is a great leader (like a Slytherin) and wanted to prove himself to Mars. Frank also matched basically all of Hufflepuff’s traits.
4. Percy Jackson
Vibes: Housestall between Slytherin and Gryffindor He was always daring to the gods and reminds me of Harry Potter so...
Traits: Housestall between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw I’ve said before that Percy is really creative with his plans (eg. throwing space food into the Nemean Lion’s mouth) and actually pretty smart. He’s curious and witty. He’s also super brave.
5. Hazel Levesque
Vibes: Housestall between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff Seemed super headstrong and daring as well but loving, patient, and loyal like a Hufflepuff.
Traits: Hufflepuff Said above, was caring and would be great as a leader in that sweet way.
6. Leo Valdez
Vibes: Gryffindor He was always daring
Traits: Gryffindor but maybe a little Ravenclaw Matched Gryffindor traits, also very creative and witty
7. Jason Grace
Vibes: Housestall between Hufflepuff and Slytherin Cared so much for the minor gods that it’s impossible not to consider Hufflepuff. He’s hardworking and loyal. Jason always seemed ambitious in my eyes
Traits: Housestall between Slytherin and Gryffindor A great leader, determined (to build shrines for minor gods), but also brave, chivalrous, and willing to die for better cause.
!! Who Has the Best Backstory of the 7 (Worst to Best) !!
7. Piper McLean
I promise this isn’t biased but Piper’s backstory was very basic. I still don’t understand how she managed to avoid the satyrs that were supposed to bring her to Camp Half-Blood but didn’t until 16 ?? she was supposedly powerful too and wasn’t running away like Leo did.
6. Percy Jackson
His backstory just wasn’t tragic enough 😔
5. Frank Zhang
His backstory seemed a little rushed but like all of them were ;-; Him being descendants of Poseidon and all of the history with the gods was pretty interesting.
4. Annabeth Chase
Her backstory was good and not rushed but the others were just a little better...
3. & 2. Tie between Jason Grace and Leo Valdez
Both stories were developed to some degree. Jason having experience was described and not just told + Leo’s sad story with his mom were great! Also, I love that both of them have been affected by Hera/Juno (Hera took control of Jason’s life and the stuff with Leo’s aunt)
HONORABLE MENTION: Nico and Bianca Di Angelo had compelling backstories and deserved a mention. Also Zoë Nightshade!
1. Hazel Levesque
Her story was interesting and I love the bit with her mother and the cursed gems. I kinda forgot that she came back from the dead though, and also I’m pretty sure the timeline is a bit messed up from when Thanatos was captured and when she joined Camp Jupiter. Her placing is not a surprise.
I would give anything to read the Hunger Games for the first time
!! Historical Fiction Books Set During WWII !!
1. All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr [2 perspectives, IT’S COMING TO NETFLIX??]
2. Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys
[4 perspectives, I read this in about 2 hours]
3. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
[1 perspective, heart wrenching apparently? I never finished it but I’m sure it’s great! also a film]
!! My thoughts on the new PJO show !!
This show has a very promising cast (I love Walker Scobell as Percy) and I really hope that they match the physical descriptions of the characters (but obviously them matching the personality of the characters is more important) because some of the traits are important eg. Luke’s scar. Btw, Olivea Morton as Nancy Bobofit was such a great choice and she looks like she could also be Rachel!
This show could be a hit or miss in terms of production because of the technology used (Rick said on the website that the technology for settings has never been before used) but I’m sure it will be fantastic :)
I’m so, so excited for this show and I know that we, the fans, will not be disappointed! I’m not sure when the first season will come out, apparently it will be next spring?
