I announced this awhile ago in my Instagram stories, but… I finally finished my first font for sale! 🥳 I started working on this project over 2 years ago, which blows my mind. When I decided to learn how to make fonts, I chose to start with a font that I was excited and passionate about, rather than one that I thought was particularly "sellable" and I still think that's the right choice. I'm happy that it's done, and I learned so much along the way. You can find Stuffed Rabbit for sale on Etsy! ✨⁠

In case you were wondering, this font was inspired by a Narnia quote that I lettered one day. I wanted something that imitated the monoline look of my fineliner pens and felt magical and whimsical like a kids' fairytale.⁠

Given how long it took me to finish Stuffed Rabbit, I don't know if font making is going to be a good gig for me, but I did enjoy it, and I might enjoy making another font in the future. For now, I'm going to follow some of my other creative whims (I am determined to learn to letter on windows and mirrors for some reason) and see where that takes me!⁠

I recently reread Persuasion by Jane Austen and this quote towards the very end (spoilers? ha) really resonated with me. I love the idea of becoming fearless through gratitude.⁠

It's a little strange looking back on this design now, but this is kind of what inspired all of my latest pieces! I can't match the loose-ness and ease of this piece, but I've been having ever so much fun combining letter styles and choosing hope-filled (or silly) quotes.⁠ These postcards are available in my Etsy shop!

I've found lettering verses, especially Psalms, really therapeutic. Meditative. Prayerful. I'd recommend it, even if you're only a little interested in lettering. (And if you're not into Bible verses, then maybe a quote that means something to you & speaks to the kind of person you want to be.)⁠ The result isn't what matters, just the time and resting with the words.⁠ Also, not quite satisfied with this layout, but in the spirit of "done is better than perfect" and "the result isn't what matters," here we are. Maybe I fix it later, if and when I add more details or illustrations. :)

I've been feeling a little creatively stuck the last couple months. I mostly chalk this up to starting a full-time rollercoaster of a job that I find both fulfilling and exhausting. But I think it's also because I force myself to "finish" pieces before moving on to the next one. Recently though, I've allowed myself to create the lettering (or whatever part I'm feeling at the moment) and then put it aside until I feel motivated/inspired/whatever to add illustration or "final touches." So I'm sharing the lettering with you now, even though it doesn't quite feel finished. If I add to this eventually, then bonus. And if not, I'm glad to have put it out into the world anyway.
