⤷ day five: eddie + being an amazing father

ID 1: Eddie struggles to hold and comfort Christopher. He turns to Shannon off screen and says, “he wants you, not me.” Shannon responds, “you’re still a stranger to him.”
ID 2: On the day of his ceremony, Eddie picks up Christopher and hugs him tight, smiling over his shoulder.
ID 3: Eddie drops Christopher off with Buck to get him out of his head after his injury. Walking by Buck, Eddie tells him, “[Christopher] never feels sorry for himself.
ID 4: After Christopher explains that he didn’t tell Eddie that he missed Shannon because he didn’t want him to be sad, Eddie hugs him and tries to amend the situation, He says, “hey, hey, hey - there’s nothing wrong with being sad.”
ID 5: Shannon and Eddie are clearing up their dining room table, arguing about Eddie reenlisting, though he tries to explain that he’s trying to provide for the family and cover costs “…and now Christopher’s illness.” Shannon responds firmly, “it is not an illness. It’s cerebral palsy.”
ID 6: After Chris falls off a skateboard and gets mad at Eddie for always telling him that he could do anything, Eddie tries to fix his mistake. He explains, “and yes, there are things in life that you’re not gonna be able to do. And there’s other stuff that you are gonna be able to do but it’s gonna be a lot harder than it is for the other kids because you have CP.”
ID 7: Two gifs back to back. In the first Carla tells Eddie that he should let Shannon back into Christopher’s life, saying that “a boy needs his mama.” In the second, Eddie tries to rationalize sticking it out with Ana by saying, “my kid loves her.”
ID 8: Eddie explains why he put Buck in his will as Christopher’s legal guardian, telling him, “no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you. That is what I want for him.”
ID 9: Eddie argues with Shannon about reenlisting. He says, “I’m trying to provide for my family. That’s the reason I enlisted in the first place.”
ID 10: After telling Christopher about his plans to move them both to California, Eddie holds Christopher in his arms on the porch of their Texas home. Eddie says, “I miss you all the time too, kid. I’m never gonna leave you again.”
