THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE - Season 1, Episode 3
VAMPIRIC SENSES Fresh into her transformation, Maryam had a difficult time focusing her senses. Hearing - specifically the world around her had been turned up to beyond full volume. It overwhelmed her, being able to hear heartbeats to conversations across the street, the leaves in the trees. It wasn’t until about a few years into her new life as a vampire that she fully adjusted. Sight, touch, sound, smell and taste are amplified beyond human understanding. Maryam can see perfectly at night, making her a deadly predator. The night is when she is most active surprise surprise. Scents are easy for her to pick up on. Humans have a distinct smell, as do other supernatural creatures that Maryam has come into contact with ( such as witches and werewolves ) allowing her to be able to pick them out in crowds and usually avoid them. She acts largely based off of her senses. When she comes across a scent or a feeling that is unfamiliar Maryam usually will let her curiosity get the better of her.

THE MYTH You might know Maryam Bennett even if you have never had the pleasure of meeting her. For years her appearance as explained of that of a demon. During the resurgence of occultism, many would believe they could summon her by saying her name three times, or threatening to have stolen her baby - which, today, makes Maryam laugh, as she has never had a child. Bloody Mary has meant many things to many different people. During her years of bloodshed, she did however, tear through the fine families of victorian England without so much as a second thought. The fact really became fable when a survivor spotted Maryam feeding off of humans in a white, bloodied nightgown. The moniker has stuck with her ever since. On the surface, Mary will laugh and pretend she finds it all quite hilarious. Underneath it all she has complicated feelings of guilt.

“ funny, i used to think the same thing… “ beverly recalls wanting to get the hell out of her hometown as soon as possible but she likes where she is now, she did not understand the other woman’s qualms. “ what is so bad about this town? “
Lips push out under harsh exhale. Small towns. Still. Intimate. Enough that people ask questions - care about the faces that come and go. “I’m not a small down person, I suppose.” Easier than stating she’d rather remain anonymous.
