I also don't see a manipulation at all. I think it's just as Fitz says, she knows exactly who he is and everything about him, and really this house, this belief in them, is so much of who he is. He loves her, he wants a life with her, and even her fears and self doubts aren't big enough to stop what is the reality of their love. The very fact that his faith is so steady and so secure, when ostensibly everything else around her/them continues to change and break... astounds her. It's like she cannot believe how much he loves her. And, I think it astounds him that she could ever doubt that.

Liv, standing in the house that was built for her and a life she's only dreamed of, and looking at Fitz, so fearfully, because so much of what she sees are the reasons he should never love her, is heartbreaking to me. That all he ever sees is her, and, further, how her struggle to understand just makes him love her more? I love that.

So when Fitz got shot, he had either built or was building her a home, complete with rooms for all the children he was planning to create with her. When he screamed out her name at the moment he was sure death would claim him, he was not only calling out to the love of his life, his heart, his soul, but at the thought that the life he was building for the two of them, literally building from the ground up with the utmost care and attention paid to the smallest details of what they both envisioned for their future lives together, would never be able to come true.

I loved so much about this moment. Liv and Fitz together, in a place that was as much about the promise of their love, as it was about its' fulfillment. Both of them, at once, hopeful yet scared to call it a "dream", as Fitz wonders if that's what she thinks, and Liv is startled, realizing that, for them, a life together is not (and never has never been) merely a fantasy. For me, I was struck most of all by the fact that this moment was so much more than a house-- greater, it was a reality that their love is real and a foundation to build a life upon.
