Hey! My sister and I are going to broadwaycon 2017, and we're trying to put together a cosplay that we can do together. Do you have any ideas for us (preferably no romantic couples, since, you know, we're sisters)? Thanks!
Glinda and Elphaba would be cute, but if you’re looking for something a bit more last minute...perhaps characters from Putnam County Spelling Bee (normal clothing with the yellow signs) Whatever you chose, good luck!
Do you know where I could find a Small Allison shirt? I really want to cosplay as her for Broadwaycon
I do not know if anyone makes them. If it were me, I’d try painting one myself. Or you could always try and find something similar at thrift stores or online. Good luck!
If I want to cosplay something from a lesser known musical (I want to do Candy from Holy Musical Batman by Team Starkid) would that be appreciated at Broadwaycon?
I can’t speak for everyone but I like to think that BroadwayCon is not exclusively “things that have been on Broadway” but more “musical theater and plays” in general. I say go for it! Some people won’t get it, but those that do could potentially be new friends!
Please come to the Curtains Up On Cosplay panel!
Saturday at 10am in Programing Room C
Broadway Con is less than 2 months away and I’ve got some exciting cosplay related news!
Less than 100 days till BWayCon!
Send in your work in progress costume photos!!
Who are you dressing as? What do you think the most popular costume will be?
Hi, I'm currently working on a hamilton cosplay and I've learned that im going to be able to go to the show! My question is... is it common or is it looked down upon to go to a show in either said cosplay or maybe elements from it? I'm just very hesitant and I've never been to a broadway show, and I really don't want to be disrespectful! Thank you!
I’m not sure for Hamilton, (or even Broadway at large) but I have cosplayed to Cats on tour before. The best thing is to call the theater ahead of time and let them know what you want to do, they’ll let you know if it will be a problem or not. Usually, fans in costumes are okay as long as it does not distract from the show. Sometimes there can be a problem if too many people in the theater ask to take photos, but again, I’d call The Richard Rogers and just ask.
If it’s just elements of a costume, a vest, jacket, etc. (like BroadwayBounding) I say go for it.
Also, be prepared for some varying reactions. When I went dressed as a cat, some ushers thought for a second I was in the cast and told me they almost were about to send me backstage (ha!) At the stage door some cast members loved it and others did not make eye contact or stop for autographs...
Anyway, hope I helped!
I couldn't go this year, but I'm planning for 2017. I'm thinking Quasimodo, Male Mary Poppins, and Everyone's Understudy... Thoughts?
Oooooooo, yes! Do it!
Here are my photo of BCon I took with my boyfriend (We were Moritz and Wendla)
