She doesn’t look back, fumbling over the staircase and tumbling down the first flight, scrambling up. who is this, now? What is he carrying? She’s going to get killed.
She whimpers when she’s lifted, which send aloud report through the air, although it’s not nearly as powerful as the directed action from earlier, which caused Maylin to pass out. Still, a loud, sudden noise.
she instinctively curls up her knees a little bit from where she is in the air due to the odd feeling of sudden gravity. She stares at the… rod? Lance? As she’s set down, stumbling backwards again, and nearly going over the second flight of stairs. What is he talking about? Sign? Why would they know sign? What is happening? She pants slightly, holding the hand with her knife in front of her chest, pointed up though.
Ludalf glances backwards, at the stairs, then turns and runs. It's more of a blind urge to get out get out of this oddly beautiful house. her feet- where are her shoes?
They've been torn up and too big for ages but she's sliding and tripping in her hurry, still dizzy from the drugs.
Ludalf grits her teeth, trying to hang onto her own consciousness, tumbling off the last few and hitting her chin and nose before skidding down a hallway. It’s a dead end?? Except for that room; an office maybe?
she scrambles past and there’s only one window, which looks properly hitched. She’s trapped. Ludwlf presses back into the corner. Her head hurts. She feels as though she might cry.
Ludalf stares at him wildly, but doesn’t do anything. There’s nothing to do. Screaming isn’t gonna get her anywhere is it? She doesn’t know where she is, she doesn’t know how many people are here. Lu swallows, gently resting her chin over one knee and looking at the strange man across the room. She doesn’t let go of her knife at all, keeps it slightly extended so that… well what? Is there really anything that could protect her from such an unknown threat? She could use telekinesis, but it brings the same issue as earlier.
Does it make sense to try to talk to him? He wouldn’t know how to understand her much less likely that he’d be interested in it. He definitely wants something- maybe works for the first woman.
Ludalf watches him sign, and eventually shift a knife out of one palm into the other. She shouldn’t tell him her real name, should she? she struggles to think of the most recent book she’s read, and signs
Ludalf pauses, then puts two of her thumb fingers together and moves her palms back-and-forth.
BIRD
She’s referencing a book she read one time or a poem rather. She’s always been very much a reader, that’s basically all she had to entertain herself growing up- Human books.
Ludalf watches uncertainty, but repeats his words back in confirmation. Family is a sign she does not know, so she mimics it twice, setting her knife down to sign
my people. that would mean, friends. Family outside means ... gethen, right? That's it, just dad. But the sign seems to mean something a little different. She slowly signs
DOG
H-E-S-S-E
then repeats his sign of love. It’s exciting to be be able to talk to a new person, even if he might kill her.
ludalf shakes her head sharply. She should never take food from somebody unknown. Not to mention she’s meant to find her own food unless she’s at dinner meeting.
KID-SLEEP
That doesn’t seem to clarify her point and so she stops , and readjusts, miming a cloth over her mouth accusingly
Ludalf sniffles wetly, tucking her face into her knees before eventually peeking down the hallway at him. He’s old, right? Maybe he wouldn’t notice if she followed. She waits until she sees him disappear around the corner before going to the window and trying to open it. It doesn’t work. She turns her attention to the desk, pulling apart drawers, and cabinets in search of something that could help her get out of here- her crystals are gone.
She eventually creeps out a bit, having not found a weapon better than her knife. Ludalf crawls over the stair railing to perch on the platform which gives her a decent view, squatting for balance like a leapfrog.
Ludalf sniffs a little and watches him with obvious suspicion. This is such a weird situation, but she doesn’t know where to go. Everything feels kind of overwhelming and she’s still dizzy. It almost feels like she might fall off.
