BronxNet is an independent, not-for-profit organization, established under the Cable Television Franchise Agreement between the City of New York and Cablevision of New York City. The station began cablecasting programs on July 1, 1993. BronxNet provides local television by the people of the Bronx, for the people of the Bronx. Our channels feature BronxNet produced shows, as well as those created by community access producers. Our Healthy Start target population is African-American women under 29 years of age living in four Community Districts (CDs): Concourse/Highbridge (CD 4), University/Morris Heights (CD 5), Fordham(CD 7), and Pelham Parkway (CD 11), each with excess of 10 infant deaths per 1,000 live births averaged over 2007-2009. New York City begins a new era in nutritional warnings this week, when chain restaurants will have to start putting a special symbol on highly salty dishes.The first-of-its-kind rule, which takes effect Tuesday, will require a salt-shaker emblem on some sandwiches, salads and other menu items that top the recommended daily limit of 2,300 milligrams — about a teaspoon — of sodium.
