the body is always being accused of something. cortisol. seed oils. microplastics. needing magnesium. needing sunlight. needing less sunlight. needing to be held upside down by a lymphatic specialist named Rain. anyway. i took a probiotic and felt nothing. then i felt superior. which is probably the first sign it’s working

the ballad of wander ۪ ⠀ 𓂋 wisconsin became a hellscape of blood and debris following the american outbreak: towns and cities either burned or bombed to rubble, people and families torn apart by the chaos of infection — both literally and figuratively.
disease and infection started from the sweet innocence of bread grain or cake batter: breakfasts and birthday parties, destroyed due to an undetected mold as parents and children turned to consume each other instead. towns and cities were destroyed in a matter of hours, families torn apart in minutes.
a day is the length of time it took for the world to finally end; moreover, how long it took to restart.
the military began rounding up and recruiting survivors of the fall just days later, killing those who came into contact with the violent new hosts of this mold. the capital state became an oppressive, federal hive — surrounded by tall cement walls and constant unwanted surveillance.
liana beauchamp was born to it: a vicious pit of indignity where people did what they were instructed at the command of some other higher authority. a man, or army, or cause; it did not matter. anything was worth survival. she was raised from a position of power where compliance was not expected of her.
she set the curve in every academic and combative field she was placed in; a force of nature.
when food shortages began reaching an all time high, it was liana’s father that was to blame for the common people's suffering. there wasn't a moment of surprise for liana when her parents were punished for his wrongdoings, even as a child with little understanding of anything.
it was not until the deaths of her mother and father, along with being forced out of her hometown, that she began to learn. hibernian nomad, creed graham and his son took her in when she had little else, and ensured she would not meet the same fate as her formers.
