Listen to this version of Albertine mixed up by Deraj. Amazing.
We want someone to help us but we do everything by ourselves. We want God but live life so selfishly, we let ourselves become our own God. Our biggest problem we face as Christians is not satan, not any other religion, it’s ourselves. We have this new wave of humanism, we ourselves are our own God and we seek to gratify and live by our own rules because we have determined that we have the right answer. Many religions have a concept of a savior. In Buddhism you save yourself by all desire if you don’t want anything any more then you’ve reached salvation. To some you save yourself through education and a ratification of morality. In Hinduism you save yourself by detaching evil from reality. In Islam, you save yourself by the good deeds that you do. Nearly all religions that have a savior have one common thing and it is that they themselves are their savior, you are your own savior. But none of these religions have ever claimed that their God that their head that their “guru” claimed to be God, never claimed to love you, and never claimed to die for you. I don’t know about you, but I can’t save myself. Honestly do you have the answer to everything? At that moment when you found yourself in jail, at that moment you were so drunk you couldn’t leave the bathroom because you were throwing up so much, at that moment when you had the gun in your hand, at that moment when you were at the abortion clinic and no one was picking you up and you just stood there, at that moment you felt all alone, at that moment where your dad beat the ever loving life out of you… could you save yourself?

To worship God you must go beyond words to speak with your heart. You can mouth the words of a prayer all day long and just waste your time, unless you also speak with your heart. And to speak with your heart means to embody first. If you pray for love, be loving. If you pray for wealth, be generous. If you pray for health, practice health yourself. What is your favorite prayer? How can you begin to embody it?
