If you’re new to Tumblr or coming back after a long hiatus, this is an important PSA that you can turn off the Based on your likes! feature in the app, but as a counterpoint you can leave it intact and experience what is the algorithmic equivalent of a blindfolded child swinging and missing a piñata with such astounding frequency that onlookers are starting to feel bad.
Sure, you could turn it off, but then you’d miss out on posts that make you question what you could’ve possibly liked.
How is this based on my interests, Tumblr?? Show me the likes, Tumblr, show me how the algorithm works. What is this??? What likes??? What interests, Tumblr, I am begging you, please I want to be enlightened!!
