gameoverse seems fun enough. but the cynical feminist in me can't help herself. all the male characters are like, cartoon blobs, which is contrasted strongly by the two major female characters in this pilot, both of whom are hour-glass shaped humanoid women who spend most of their screentime in swimsuits. and like that's not an outright dealbreaker but i *am* staring into the camera with my eyebrows raised.
idk i'm getting really tired of this "connecticut clark and malfina" type shit where male characters get to be Silly Abstract Little Guys but women have to be women shaped. it's this male-as-default thing that i hate where you don't need to add anything to a character design to imply male-ness but the woman better have wide hips and booba or else yknow like idk it's not outright Offensive but it is tiring
Finally, I'm not alone in being icked out for the Connecticut Clark and Malfina thing.
When does Connecticut Clara get her happily ever after with her Malvolio? The only time I ever see anything close it's mocking said Connecticut Clara for thinking she could ever be worth a Malvolio, meanwhile Connecticut Clark is usually more wholesome than cringe. It's the woman's "purpose" to be desired, not to desire, which is why women's desires are mocked and put on the backburner.
If the world was a just and rational place there would be outrage that the Yankees planted their flag on Earth's moon. There would be outrage that the Americans seemingly claimed the fucking moon for themselves. That the moon which has held such significance across countries, across continents, across time- now has the American flag on it. Could you imagine if the Soviets got there? I mean we'd be (rightfully) pissed. But the USA gets to put their eyesore of a flag on a celestial object without objection. Why did we as a planet let them get away with that???
Is it impossible to just reply in the text now. I hate tagyapping because in order to respond I need to bloody screenshot it and then ad an image I'd because?? Why??? Just use the reblog function as Jesus Christ intended.
A lot of younger Autistics who aren't that familiar with Autistic rights activism or actual neurodiversity theory know that the Autistic rights movement rejected functioning labels and severity labels, but they don't actually know why they were harmful and so they end up reproducing the exact same ableist assumptions but using support needs or levels without changing anything else instead of actually learning that every single Autistic has different traits and have wildly differing experiences. Instead of actually learning that the spectrum is a colour wheel and not a gradient. Instead of actually examining how some Autistics are raised to assimilate and mask and other Autistics are raised not being taught life skills or given a proper education because of presumed competence and how that negatively effects all of us. Instead of learning how nonspeaking Autistic people are systematically failed time and time again and just attributing bad outcomes and bad quality of life on them being too "high maintenance" to be happy. Instead of recognizing that allistic people also have needs but have their needs catered to and ours aren't. Instead being learning about the social model of disability and becoming angry Marxists like God intended. Passionate Autistic youth having their strong desire for a better world wasted on trying to find out whether you're Autistic enough for this or too Autistic for that instead of fighting to make sure that we all have access to as many resources and as many opportunities as possible, reading the fucking DSM instead of Capitalism and Disability. #SAD.
Is there anything more tragic than liking a niche m/f pairing, and then discovering that most fics for it treat the female character as a personality free reader insert

In an alternate universe Donald Trump AI generated the moon with an American flag, was mocked by both sides and forced to retract it within a week.
People don't talk about presumed incompetence in regards to the average Autistic's everyday life. Even if you have a decent amount of social mobility and a support network, if you can't keep up the charade of being allistic God help your soul.
My teachers have been largely, very good about me being Autistic. They don't expect me to be their equal, I'm much younger than them and new to the course.
My classmates however cannot wrap their head around me being their equal. Every time I've been in a group project I've been pushed to the side, had my work done for me, had my input ignored even when it's cost my whole group a good grade. No matter how good my grades are or how good my writing is, because I am visibly Autistic I am not treated as an active member of any group, just an obstacle to be overcome.
I don't think writing this out conveys how much of an effect that's had on me. I struggled with my self esteem and felt like I didn't even deserve to exist, having that be how you are treated your whole life up to and including university fucking breaks someone. I've had to fight to both keep on task and also make sure I was included because my classmates would rather sabotage the entire fucking project than take advice from the Autistic kid.
Autistic people fucking take up as much fucking space as possible. Allistic people are not going to open the door for us or our contributions, we need to force our way in. Stand your ground.
Every time I'm insecure about my hairline I think about the ad that promised to fix my hairline if I let them put ads in my phone calls. And I feel a lot better about my mild widow's peak because at least I don't have ads in my fucking phone calls.
hi I would just like to thank you for introducing me to the concept of social model of disability, I think learning about it was good and I appreciate you a lot for just being the person to show me that ^^
Thank you for learning about it! I remember learning about it when I was very young and it laying the foundation for a lot of systemic analysis and criticism. I'm pretty sure it's what made me anti-capitalist. I'm honoured to be the one to introduce it to someone else.
"Women wanna be independent but they can't even open the pickle jar" why did they design the jar like that then.
As glad as I am that the neurodiversity movement has gained traction, it is becoming apparent that many people online, especially nondisabled people, don't know what neurodiversity or neurodiversity theory actually is, don't know that it has any relation to the social model of disability, and just think it's just a polite euphemism for mentally disabled people as opposed to being a political ideology.
"Neurdivergencies ARE inherently all disorders and ARE all illnesses and we DO need a cure for ALL of them and disorder IS an objective biological category and not a social construct AT ALL" ok so it's apparent that while you are well meaning you do not actually believe in neurodiversity (yet) and may not have even read its Wikipedia page. If you operate under the medical model of disability you cannot operate under the neurodiversity model. The whole point of neurodiversity is that it is an explicit refutation of the medical model and the pathologisation of neurodivergence.
That being said, please join the fight for liberating neurodivergent people and mentally disabled people in general, please do familiarize yourself with the basics of the theory behind it (preferably not by social media, that's done enough damage) we want you here fighting alongside us. The medical model won't liberate you from the system that oppresses you and denies you your rights because it is the system. The master's tools cannot dismantle the master's house.
Become anti capitalist while you're at it, systemic ableism is inseparable from capitalist oppression and our exploitability or lack thereof as workers. Why aren't we given the things we need to live happily and autonomously by default? Because it's more cost effective to convince us we are the problem and let us suffer. Because under capitalism we are sick and defective because our differences affect our ability to generate shareholder value. Disability justice is not temporary accomodations it is systemic overthrow.

"I'm not transphobic, I just want trans people to be able to accept their bodies as they are" Ok good! So do I. Help us get rid of the sexgender binary. Help us get rid of the idea that you need to "look" a certain way to be a man or a woman. Help us get rid of the idea that you have to be a man or a woman at all. Help us make a world where being respected as your gender identity is not contingent on conforming or passing or "looking cis". Help us stop the shaming and fetishisation of men with vaginas and women with penises and nonbinary people in general. Help us end the gender pay gap for trans women. Help us end violence towards visibly trans people. Help us access healthcare without being misgendered. Help us create better standards of care for trans people. Help us stop the trans panic defence. Help us remove surgery, hormone or sterilisation requirements to legally change your gender marker. Help us create resources for menstruating boys and nonbinary people. Help us fight stigma against trans people's bodies post-op as well. Help us normalise medical transition and having mixed sex characteristics in general. Help us fight persecution of trans people both undergoing and not undergoing medical transition of any kind.
You cannot lecture the gender dysphoria out of someone. You can let the transgender people in your life know that you respect their gender regardless of what decisions they make about their bodies. You can help fight for a world where trans people who only undergo social transition are also given equal rights and respect. Terfs will not help you do that, trans people will.
Trans guy: hey, I'm worried about vaginal atrophy
Other trans people: If you get vaginal atrophy, here's what an almost comprehensive list of what medicines are available to you, how to use them and where to get them, and their side effects. Vaginal atrophy can get worse if untreated, so make sure to talk with your doctor about it. Also here's a list of some ways to manage the symptoms. Vaginal atrophy is actually very common, including among menopausal cis women, and it's nothing to be ashamed of.
Conservatives: If you don't completely detransition right now you will get vaginal atrophy and die and it will be your fault for being a tranny. Also I heard testosterone will make your limbs fall off as well. #returntojesus
"The transgenders won't tell you about THIS side effect" all the useful information about negative side effects of testosterone has come from either other trans people or the doctors giving me the testosterone. No christian fundamentalist has told me how to bind safely, no terf has given me accurate and useful information on vaginal atrophy, because they don't care about our health and happiness. They only care about scaring us back into the closet.
FINAL POLL: class Aves
Which is the best bird?
Little spotted kiwi
Common raven
Thanks to all who participated in this tournament! Here it is: the final question. May the best bird win.
Vote for the kiwi. Please. It had bird of the century stolen from it by a shitty American talk show that thought it was funny to bully the smaller country and flood the votes with Americans who had no cultural connection or care about NZ's wildlife and turn another kiwi thing into entertainment for yankees who already, already have EVERYTHING. It still makes me sad to this day.
Ravens are already loved, rightly so, and huge part of that is that they are recognisable to Americans. But Aotearoa has so many amazing birds, and it would be so amazing if one got the appreciation it deserves. It would be so cool if the kiwi got to win. It's been through hell and back ecologically. Ravens are already highly well known, especially due to their familiarity to Americans. Kiwis deserve some love.
I understand the logic behind "women and nonbinary people only" spaces (that are inclusive to trans women and all nonbinary people) but oftentimes it functionally does not work, either for the trans people excluded or the trans people included in these spaces.
Obviously, for trans men, we literally cannot enter these spaces, despite our experiences as men being fundamentally different from cis men. Our manhood can be revoked under the patriarchy and while a cis-passing man may have male privilege, men and boys in the closet or men and boys who don't pass often have little to no male privilege. Ultimately it ends up reinforcing social pressure to stay in the closet.
Nonbinary people in these spaces often find themselves in a precarious situation where they cannot identify too closely with manhood, or cannot appear to masculine, and while they are welcome on paper a space that prohibits men on principle is precarious for nonbinary people. It ends up reinforcing the idea that nonbinary people are "woman lite" and only permits them on the basis that they are "not men" (which for some nonbinary people is not true).
Trans women and girls often have their womanhood/girlhood revoked under the patriarchy, especially if they do not conform to gender roles. Especially for closeted women and girls, or women and girls very early in their transition, "woman only" spaces aren't welcoming to them. A huge part of transgender women's oppression comes specifically from being labelled as men against their will. Often for transgender women and girls to be allowed in these spaces, they need to meet a threshold of femininity and gender conformity to avoid being seen as "men". Feminist spaces should not enforce gender conformity.
You can't truly divide the transgender community by sex or gender in a feminist way when our oppression as transgender people comes from existing outside of the sexgender binary, a function of the patriarchy.
Young trans person on tumblr listen to me. Do you have a local LGBTQ+ space? Do you have a group or a club for queer people? Go there. It's so worth it I promise you. I'm not asking I'm telling. Nothing snaps you out of your despair spiral like reading with other trans people, singing with other trans people, talking with other trans people over tea and biscuits. Engage with your community in real life. Support yourself and others at protests and rallies but also at your local library. I say this as a very introverted person, it's so, so worth it. Do it for Georgina Beyer.
