And it started to seem like the world has changed
For you appeared when as if the time is right
I asked my God, when?
Maybe He was thinking of when this heart poured out.
Couldn’t imagine life without You God
My God knows how I’ve asked Him of you
He knows how I’ve thought of you until my eyes would sleep
It’s just sad how one day we woke up and start realizing that we like someone, and we start developing the desire to make them part of our life but it all just stops there. Nothing more, nothing less.
Why would I even have to feel that my feelings have to be reciprocated?
It’s my first time to be broken hearted because of a pet. they delivered a new puppy today. So I fell in love the first time I saw her. I’m attached to her already. And now, they gave us the wrong puppy. Apparentky we have to bring her back. I couldnt stop them. So this is how it feels.
Have you ever been in a situation where silence is the most sound response to your feelings? My heart and mind shouts for you, but my lips can’t. I want you near me. I want you in my life. But I don’t even have the guts to speak my heart.
This year may be so tough, I’m just thankful that atleast I get to experience it with them
I truly understand and strongly believe that one’s feeling should never be invalidated. Feel however you want. Express however you want. But sometimes this is problematic. And it should not be romanticized. (Not the depression thing) l. Our emotions are too strong and it would even define us; dictitate how we should act. It’s good that if you can, control at least, maybe that’s better.
Critical Theory of Communication in Organization
Control and colonize,” the term regarded by Deetz as to how corporations regulate today’s modern life. They are at the top, dominating how the system works, dictating on how it is viewed, how it should be. Compared to the cultural approach to organizations theory, it suggests that its objective –achieving what’s good for everybody, should be managed or decided by the representatives who have power. The advent of mass media further spread the idea of transmitting ideas and perspectives that people should have. The standard that they have set in the status quo has limited to the hierarchy of classes. There are limitations to the average and the powerless. I am bestowed with authority as chairman of the Sangguniang Kabataan of our barangay. I lead my fellow officials in planning and decision making, developing programs, and establishing a beneficial community to our barangay’s constituents, especially the youth.  Aligning personal principles to my service as a leader, which is to empathize and cater the needs of the people, was essential in pushing towards collective growth. I empower my co-officials, and altogether we empower youth to become better citizens. We strive in addressing problems, providing quality services and, giving an empowered administration that people deserve. Deetz’ theory showcases how power imbalances exist in different groups in the status quo. While what it suggests implies a negative notion on organizations, it is still on the discretion of individuals who have the upper hand to achieve mutual benefit for everybody. In a capitalistic society, Marx’s ideology of “the rich get richer as the poor get poorer,” sometimes subjugate the minds of most organization leaders of today. They seem apathetic towards changing the system but there are still individuals who believe in equality, and those whose goals are inclined to cumulative growth.
Standpoint Theory
It’s not that I am not for women empowerment, but I don’t actually see that feminism has been really true to its cause to make women to be equal as of men. Womenhave been asserting that they are being marginalized and discriminated but as of today, their rant for equality has become a concept of dominance and entitlement. Though women has proved that they can be as equal to me, I don’t actually see this as untrue and unreal. I would say that whatever women will do, women are still weaker of than men because I of my influence to biblical references. The bible say that women are the weaker vessels. That’s why men should protect the women. And I live by this. Whatever the bible tells me, I stand by it. But this does not necessarily means that women are inferior. Is such that women are more in need of protection and care.
That’s what I believe and perceive women. They are as equal as I am but they are in need of my manly protection.
Heaven earth shall pass away but the words of God stands forever.
Dramatism
one time, I got to school early in the morning. but the time of our class will start at 10:30 am. We decided to go early so that we could have a breakfast th Theatro. so there we eat our breakfast. suddenly my classmate asked to buy with me a chipay in fron of MMSU High School. We’ll ride with a motorcycle but he doesn’t have helmet. but I still accepted his request/.
So we went to the chipay store but unfortunately, we were apprehended by the police because he did not wear helmet. So latter on I got to know trhat I’ll be paying 16,000 pesos for my fine.Â
so what happened, I blamed my classmate. if only he did noty invite me to buy such chipay I could have enjoy my money this christmas. I won’t be stressed out looking for the money I have to pay.Â
but I came nto this realization that it’s my fault. and it’s a lesson to me. though it’s very saddening, I have to face the consequences of my action.Â
i am reminded by the the words of my teacher “Running away is never a solution to problem”. and never point out fingers whever bad things happen to us.Â
Cultural Approach to Organization
Every group or organization has its distinct practices, standards, and belief systems. Basically, every organization has this culture that is being shaped and cultivated by its people.
When I was in high school, I joined in a provincial leadership camp initiated by the provincial government. This camp was participated by youth leaders from the province. One of the highlights of this camp was that every group/commission has to create a project proposal and shall be deliberated in the plenary session. In our group, we realized that with the absence if the SK at that time, we should be an organization that’ll work for the welfare of the youth. So I am one of the members who drafted the proposal of this organization and naming it the SIRIB ILOKANO KABATAAN ASSOCIATION. This proposal was made into reality and after months, it grew and became the biggest youth organization in the province. To realize the organization’s mission, our leaders educated our members about the organization’s mission, vision, and agenda through intensified campaigns, seminars, and leadership camps. In addition, the organization emphasizes the culture of volunteerism. By narrating stories of remarkable members who did an outstanding service to the community. With this, the value of volunteerism has become a culture and basic practice of the organization. It became the identity of SIKA. That whoever wants to enter to this group should have the passion to serve without anything in return.
Moreover, with this culture that is cultivated in the group, the implication is that the practices that is imbibed in every member will be carried out wherever that member goes.
Rhetoric
I have this friend whom I really consider him as an inspiration. He’s a youth leader, a volunteer, and a public servant. Aside from these, what makes me really astounded about him is his excellent public speaking. Kuya James Ventura was my batch mate in very first Sirib Leadership Camp and eventually became the first ever president of SIKA. I had experiences with especially when we were chosen to be representatives in the 11th National Youth Parliament.
I always idolize him whenever he speaks in front of a big crowd and even in debating. He’s a person of pragmatism. I can always understand how his arguments work, its logic and validity works so powerfully. Often times, he would always site examples that would really catch my heart and attention. In addition, at the very end of his speeches, he always affirms the implication of his arguments. How will it affect our life or challenge us to comprehend whether it’s morally right and acceptable.
Sir James is really a person of persuasion. If this isn’t true, how come the organization that he lead became so influential? To really win your audience and make them believe whatever you assert, one should have a strong sense of argumentation and logic, ability to appeal to emotion, and assessment of how these are morally right.
Genderlect Theory
The genderlect theory suggests that different genders have the different styles of communication patterns and behaviours. It asserts that women have commonality in communication style that’s is ultimately opposing to men. According to this theory women generally wants to establish connection and men want to establish status. This belief can’t be denied as proved by women’s bigger circle of social capital compared to men. Apart from that, it also asserts that men are more rational in compare to women’s transparent emotion. However, this theory does not abandon the idea that these styles are actually interchangeable. There are instances that men can act femininely and vice versa.
Personally, I agree with the paradigm that this theory would like us to believe. Though I am a man, there are instances that I act or communicate femininely. For instance, Based on the theory men only talk to only look good and to impose status, courage and authority. But for I, I talk because I want to engage and create a meaningful relationship. Most of time, I start conversation to empathise and to understand someone’s feeling. Especially when I can sense that a person close to me is bothered or in pain. For Some men, asking a question about something could hit their ego. For me, asking question is not something to be ashamed of. I believe that its better to ask than to act as if you know everything. I think it’s a manifestation of authenticity. Accepting the reality that we know everything. There are times that we need help and the inky thing to do is ask.
Though these gender style speaks so much about how we engage with other people, the least that we can do is to be sensitive and be more understanding. With this, despite of big differences, we can create a meaningful relationship and foster cultural understanding.
Speech Codes
Speech Codes “Weennn”
Philippines is undeniably a very high context cultured society. With it’s diverse culture, the people tend to have different practices and behaviour. Another component that sets us apart to each other is the diversity of language and dialects. Even with languages, people have this varying intonation, enunciation, tone, and accent.
In the context of Ilokano, in Ilocos Norte it’s apparent that every municipality has its own accent in speaking the language. One very pragmatic example is how different ilokanos say “wen”
These are some of the most iconic versions of this word.
In Laoag, they would say “weeeen” prolonged in high pitch teenagers often day it this way, “weeen kas meeettt”
Vintar is just like Laoag but more emohazized and more prolonged “weeeeeeeeeerennnnnn”
Batac has a very different accent. They often accuse Bataqueños as boatsful beacuse of the accent. Il goes like this “wun” with a semi base tone and seldom prolonged
When you hear the accent “wuhh’ you’ll definitely say it’s from Badoc. It sound like Batac accent but it is delivered louder and no letter N.
These might be some difference but this makes the culture more diverse. Every accent or any style is a reflection of one’s culture. Let it not be a barrier towards understanding. May it serve as a rich identity of every individual
