We had a Q&A session with Ian Stearns from @soundcloud today at our Saturday workshop for students to learn more about how technology is influencing musicians and record labels.
This is Elicia. One of our top students in our pilot program with Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute. She was able to work on her MC'ing as well as her beatmaking skills in the program. Today at @scratchdjacademy, @1marvelito gave students a demo of how to put together all the basic scratches they learned into the workshop to make a scratch routine (at Scratch DJ Academy)
Students in our workshops build creative confidence- the ability to step out of their comfort zone and try new things, whether it's scratching on turntables or presenting a song they made themselves. We have two Saturday workshops today. One in Downtown Brooklyn and here's a photo from the other one in Brownsville led by @twelve45_
It's never too late for an after-school program to start. Students in a Bronx Middle School started their first workshops with us for the day. We taught an intro to looping and how to use loops to build a beat.
For our Saturday workshop on Halloween today, our Workshop Leader @caboblanco showed students how to make the chord progressions in Travis Scott's Antidote using YouTube and manipulating it in Audiotool.
Thank you @verizon for the purple speakers in support of #dvam. We're excited to use these in our workshops.
