Unpopular opinion: I'm actually really proud of him for telling more than he needed to and sacrificing himself to make a point about investors being valued more than doctors or patients. It's not like he had much a chance at freedom anyway.I believe this is what he wanted.

I believe he only plead not guilty initially to avoid being labeled a terrorist like Ted K as he mentioned in his journal and once the terrorism and death penality charges where dropped, he was able to acheive his end goal of telling his story. Perhaps there was pressure to also do an emotional disturbance thing from his parents or something, but he doesn't want people to think he's crazy or sorry and for that I admire him. Maybe there was a fight and that's why his family wasn't there. Perhaps it took a while to craft a statement so unapologetic without seeming psycho or extra with it.

Nevertheless, to stand so firmly in front of Brian's family and never say sorry was truly bold. I love that he connected his pain to the broader picture and wasn't overly self centered or cucked in his statement.

I believe this will go down in history and should solidify a strong legacy even after the victim impact statements. This case is so much more significant than the freedom of one man.

I'm at peace with whatever happens now.

biggest takeaways from today’s state hearing (June 17)

- Luigi came in wearing a blue suit and had a new haircut and he looked healthy.

- Judge Carro stated that he will be unsealing the 250.10 notice relating to the defense's claim of Extreme Emotional Disturbance (EED). (In which the prosecution argued that the defense hasn’t provided enough information for)

- Judge Carro had also ordered the defense to provide additional information and both parties should submit proposed redactions for documents currently under seal. (They are expected to be unsealed shortly)

- Luigi’s team has been ordered to turn in information regarding the identity of the defense expert and details regarding the emotional distress the defense alleges Luigi suffered.

- The only reason previous hearing was sealed because of the defense, in order to give them time to determine whether they intended to pursue the psychological defense.

- Karen noted that the defense requested the proceedings be sealed because this particular defense is not available in the federal case.

- there were talks of a possible delay in which the prosecution seemed frustrated about.

- Judge Carro also dismissed the charge relating to the magazine, as it was among the evidence proved inadmissible.

- next virtual hearing is scheduled for August 11.

Let’s talk about what he’ll probably do and where he’ll likely live after his release.

I think once he’s released he’ll move to Mexico under a new alias, find a wife and start a family there. I cannot see him living in the U.S anymore, too many people would recognize him. Mexico is close to the U.S so he can always visit his family whenever he’d like and the slower pace of life in Mexico would suit him better because he’ll be older.
