his back muscles slowly pop back into place as jay leans back in his desk chair. ( his stream went a little longer than usual today, but... it was worth it. the way chat was being playful with him instead of against him, the winning streak he managed to land himself in because of the positive headspace -- it's days like this where he really, fully recognizes why he chose to do this. why community is so important to him. )

with a few swift clicks, he closes down his game, lets his discord simmer on do not disturb, and quickly swipes his phone before leaving his office. his back arches once he's upright, his spine slowly realigning as well after hours of being hunched over his keyboard like a menace. ( despite the numerous shrimp check rewards cashed in, jay's still terrible about his posture. oh well. ) still, he's happy, smile bright as he pads into the kitchen, intent on getting a snack.

his phone screen glows back at him, signifying a missed call from hwayoung. his smile grows fond, perhaps even a bit shy as he unlocks it and presses on the call button to listen to her voicemail. ( she explains that she's running a little late with one of her lectures, but she'll be by later with dinner to make up for it. his hand stills on the fridge -- he can wait, he thinks, if he gets to enjoy a meal with her. he's about to hang up when her final words ring through, clear as day -- i love you. )

he nearly drops his phone on the title floor beneath him.

because, yeah, they've been dating for a while now. and yeah, jay knows how he feels, but... he hasn't said it out loud. out of fear, mostly, that he's moving too fast. that he's feeling too much. that his natural state of being is simply overwhelming, as he's been told time and time again. ( but... he heard it. he heard it. he plays it again to be sure, and then one more time to be positively certain. i love you. she loves him. )

he doesn't know what to do, stuck in a decision paralysis of calling her back immediately to talk about it now, or stewing in it until she arrives. because the voicemail is about twenty minutes old at this point, meaning she should be here within... what, the next ten? give or take?

swallowing, he pockets his phone, makes his way into the living room, and simply sinks into the couch. his eyes are wide, panicked as they stare at the blank television. they'll have to talk about it, he thinks. he needs to make sure he's not hallucinating, that he's not making things up for the sake of his own well being. ( because yes, despite the evidence, it's... still hard to wrap his head around. hwayoung is so... incredible. someone that truly knocked his world off its axis in a matter of weeks. and maybe that's why it's so hard to understand and wrap his head around. )

jay resigns himself to sitting in silence. to simply waiting until he hears the click of the front door. until then, all he can do is breathe.

Hwan  watches  him,  the  deliberate,  intent  way  Jay  gives  himself  over  to  it,  and  something  settles  low  and  warm  in  his  chest.  Closer  to  ownership,  the  quiet  kind,  the  kind  that  doesn't  need  announcing.  He  brings  a  hand  up  to  rest  at  the  back  of  Jay's  neck  as  he  pulls  back,  watches  his  thumb  drag  across  his  boyfriend's  bottom  lip  after,  and  the  sight  of  Jay  taking  the  hint,  taking  the  digit  into  his  mouth  without  hesitation,  pulls  a  low  sound  from  somewhere  in  his  throat.  "Good,"  he  murmurs,  barely  above  a  breath.  "You  always  look  so  pretty  with  something  in  your  mouth."  And  he  speaks  without  any  ill  intent,  a  gentle  praise  of  his  own.  He  guides  him  up,  hand  moving  to  Jay's  arm,  steadying  him  as  he  finds  his  feet.  Hwan  can  feel  the  shake  in  his  legs  and  it  does  something  to  him,  the  way  the  want  has  gotten  so  far  under  Jay's  skin  that  his  body  is  announcing  it.  When  Jay  turns  and  braces  himself  against  the  railing,  pressing  back  into  him,  Hwan  exhales  slowly  through  his  nose  and  lets  his  hips  roll  forward  to  meet  him,  lets  the  grind  be  slow,  deliberate,  so  Jay  can  feel  exactly  where  he  is.

His  mouth  finds  Jay's  shoulder  first,  a  kiss  pressed  open  and  unhurried  to  the  curve  of  it,  then  again  further  up,  closer  to  the  join  of  his  neck.  When  Jay  takes  his  hand  and  pulls  his  fingers  toward  his  mouth,  Hwan  watches.  He  always  watches  this  part.  Jay  coats  them  thoroughly,  thorough  in  the  way  he  always  is  when  he  wants  something  and  wants  it  soon,  and  Hwan's  jaw  tightens  just  slightly  at  the  slide  of  his  tongue.  He  lets  Jay  guide  his  hand  down,  underneath  the  waistband,  and  when  Jay  says  please  —  when  he  says  open  me  up  —  Hwan  presses  a  kiss  just  below  his  ear  and  says,  quiet,  even,  like  he  has  all  the  time  in  the  world:  "I've  got  you.  I'm  not  going  anywhere."  His  free  hand  moves  to  help  release  his  clothes,  still  hanging  loose  but  enough  space  to  not  be  restrained  by  movement.  He  gives  an  appreciate  hold  with  his  hand,  gentle  slap  of  his  palm  against  his  ass,  before  he  continues  his  task.
