Sausage and Legs were just walking to the infirmary from Zam's kitchen to bully convince Gracie to take a break, while also checking on the status of their dear, not so little Stellar. Even in the hall leading up to it they could already hear Gracie chant another blessing, leaving both the Sun and Iron mage to give a sigh of slight frustration. When the two finally set foot into the infirmary proper they knew instantly that they needed to get their other awake friend to take a break.
Really it was direly necessary as Gracie's hair had partially come loose from her usual braided style. So Sausage being the more talkative one cajoled her to settle down at one of the two small desks and pushed a plate of hot food at her. Grudgingly he also offered Nurse Violet a plate, who refrained from bothering Sausage to much for once.
In the mean time Legs had convinced Gracie to let him fix her hair, who accepted sceptically. What Legs had up until then not had a reason to talk about but happily did as he worked, was that the village he came from had some old traditions requiring both males and females to have their heir braided for festivals. And on more than one occasion some of the other orphaned children of the village had asked for his help since he was more approachable to them then other members of his former community. He didn't just speak for Gracie's benefit, but also for Zam, even if their alien friend was unconscious still he wanted them to be included.
So while Sausage was bickering with Violet in the background Legundo made sure Gracie took a proper break by keeping her sitting somewhat still, while he wove her hair into an even more intricate braid then she usually wore adding little glass beads in as well making her hair look like it was glittering with tiny stars. When Sausage finally came over he oohed and ahhed about how pretty it was looking, prompting Legs to quip that he could do the copper-man's beard next.
The eager nod was unexpected but caused the younger to chuckle lightly. So once he was done with the silver-white hair of their blessing mage he mentioned for Sausage to take the chair Gracie abandoned to go look at hair finished hair in the small wash room to the side of the infirmary. Legs was still brushing the others hair out when they heard the delighted squeal from their overworked friend. When Gracie returned she was gushing about how pretty it looked asking a bazillion questions as she watched Legs start the same process with the dark caramel strands of their other friends beard. It took a lot less time but just like with Gracie, Legs wove little glass beads into Sausage beard giving it the same starlight look as Gracie's hair. Not bothering with finding a mirror Sausage simply asked to borrow one of Legs knifes to check his beard in the reflection of the knifes flat side. He too began to gush about how well it all looked.
The moment lasted only for a minute before Violet reminded Gracie of the time, prompting the later to jump up and rush around the infirmary to apply blessing to all that were still bed bound. Sausage was torn between going of on the nurse again and sticking by Zam's side. The Sun mage toyed with one of the beads in his beard for a moment before lamenting.
"It's a pity Zam can't see us like this Legs."
"They will! Maybe not now, but they will. Because we will find a way to fix her crystal and wake her up. And when she does I'll figure something out to include her in this too. " Legs said resolve thrumming in his voice.
And that was that as Sausage attempt at a rebuttal was interrupted by the chiming of bells and the chirps and little roars of the hatchling dragons running after Gracie.
