(for context this is for the futile devices AU- where Reader didn't survive the gunshot) - brainstorm and a small drabble below the cut
I think this would be a Tim and Damian led project. I mean, we know he did the whole 'cloning Kon like a thousand times' thing before, wouldn't put 'dragging your adoptive sister's dead body to the pit' past him. and I think Damian is driven by guilt.
Reader comes out of the pit screaming. she's afraid, she's in pain and she wants her Mother. I think instead of being angry she's just afraid all the time, constantly looking over her shoulder.
You shouldn't be here, you should be dead. Why aren't you dead?
You come home, shaking and small. Bruce gets weird about it. He lost you once, he won't loose you again. After you come home, you aren't able to leave the Manor again. You're kept inside all the time. Bruce tries to be a father to you, to calm you down when you wake up screaming, or have frantic paranoid fits where you're certain nothing is real and you're in some waking nightmare.
Everyone tries to be good to you, but its hard being around you. You aren't the same at all, you came back wrong through no fault of your own.
"Morning" Dick tries, prying your door open a crack. He pokes his head through to get a peek at you, to gauge your mood. Last week when it was his turn to bring you breakfast, you went mad and shouted at him to get away from you. Convinced he wasn't real.
When there's no answer, he lets himself in. Oh, there you are. By the window, unfocused eyes gazing out into the gardens. A crow zips past the window but you barely react.
"Ready to eat?" He coaxes, setting down the tray. All the cutlery has been replaced with kid's stuff- nothing sharp enough to hurt yourself with, or him. They all still remember when you used the fork to pierce your own hand. You wanted to 'wake yourself up'. Dick recalls the horror on your face when you saw your own blood, confirming this wasn't a dream.
"No." You mutter without turning to face him. He invites himself to sit closer.
"You have to eat something. Don't want you to starve."
"Even if I do, you'll just throw me back in there."
That chills the room. Despite your comment, you eat. The food is tasteless and claggy in your dry mouth. Dick keeps cutting up your meal like a mother with a fussy toddler. It makes you feel sick.
"Tim says he's sorry about yesterday." Oh yes. That.
"Why can't you just be normal! Go back to normal! Why can't you be her!" He cried, shouting in your face. You looked back at him with hollow eyes.
"I AM me, I'm ME!" you were defending yourself, but it was pointless. Both of you knew it wasn't true.
"Why isn't he here then?"
"He'll come, he's just... busy."
Tim was working on something to stabilise you. A sedative, or something similar enough to pacify you. He just wanted you back, is that such a crime? You'd both be happier, it's a win-win.

hoping to get it out this week as well, I want to get FTPG chp 14 done first bcs there's more demand for that but the ETTP is also being worked on.
When I started that fic, I actually began by just getting words onto a page, and then writing the rest of the fic around it, and those words are going to be in chp 2!
Partying with the clowns (joker and Harry before break up)
Climbing and dancing on an ice sculpture (if you know you know)
Making out with a chick that had a tone of knives on her
Meeting back up with the clown lady and her new girlfriend, getting high and having an impromptu therapy session
Being trapped in an escape room (riddler) and throwing such philosophical questions at the guy that owns it and giving him pointers on the escape room (because she is actually very sharp)
Meeting another guy and having a philosophical debate (scarecrow)
Meeting another guy and just talking about law and stupidity (2 face -i dont know much about him)
And just some other random encounters that leaves all the villains with a " she's fun and I like her , but there is something wrong and she is majorly self destructive"
And no one puts the pieces together until she makes an off handed comment
And the villains are worried because they haven't seen her or heard about her in a while

-they never really... clicked. They dont dislike eachother, but they never really felt like a family. It was more of an act. Both of them know but they won't admit it.
-Reader lives by herself in her own place. Bruce helps her with rent. An unspoken agreement. She calls maybe once every two months.
-doesn't really do the whole family thing.
- you end up at a cocktail bar. A little treat. You worked hard this week, you deserve a treat.
-there you met Talia.
- hard cut to the next month, and you've been asked to come back for a family dinner. Dick is keen to get everyone together.
-normally you avoid Damian, because you just dont click either. Maybe you're Wayne repellent.
-you go to the Bathroom after dinner, and pass his room. Curious, you have a peek inside. And there you see a framed picture of the two of them together.
