Things to do for Mabon
I thought it might be helpful to share some tips on what to do for Mabon! These tips should work for everybody, whether you’re a closeted witch, or out to your peers, a baby witch, or you’ve been practicing for years :)
Clean your space: New season means new beginnings. It’s always nice to go into the new season with a clean and tidy space, both mentally and physically. So do your laundry, put away all of those tea mugs in your room, delete those screenshots of that drama you were involved in that only reminds you of negative times.
Meditate: Find a quiet place, preferably outside to bask in the wonderful new weather, and meditate. Take this time to set intentions for the new season and thank your guides for all the blessings they have provided for you thus far.
Say goodbye to Persephone: Now’s the time when we bid farewell to the goddess Persephone for the year as she returns to the underworld. There are many ways to say goodbye, but some of my favourites include: wearing red attire, putting on some vampy makeup, and eating pomegranates, offering some as an offering to her.
Set the mood: It’s time to whip out the fall decorations and start the party we like to call autumn. Light a crisp smelling fall candle, or maybe even brew some apple cider. If you’re a closeted witch you could keep cinnamon sticks with you in a cute little pouch! Put on some warm fall colours and feel free to incorporate them into your altar. Watch those nostalgic fall movies or tv shows (Harry Potter, I’m talking about you). Some good titles include: Charlie Brown, Gilmore Girls, Dead Poets Society, Goodwill Hunting, Hocus Pocus, etc. Don’t forget to play some fall tunes while you’re at it!
Don’t be afraid to indulge: I think we’ve ALL walked around the holiday section in Trader Joes and wanted to get everything we see. Mabon, is a great time to splurge. Maybe start off slow, and throughout the season acquire more and more. Write down a list of your favourites so you’ll know what to buy next year. Make some pumpkin muffins, banana bread, hot chocolate, chai tea, whatever gets you into the fall mood. Don’t forget, Mabon is all about gratitude and giving, so throughout the season give thanks for what you have and share with others.
Bring the season inside with you: To do this, it is great to collect pinecones and other autumn goods that you find outside and place them at your altar, or keep them in a sacred spot where you’ll be able to see and appreciate them. Try pressing/preserving flowers and leaves of the new season. Don’t take from nature if you feel as if you shouldn’t, and if you do, be sure to thank the wonderful world around you for providing you with such exquisite gifts.
That’s all! This is my first tips post so I hope this helps you in some way! most of these activities are very simple, because most of the Mabon posts I’ve been seeing have been for really advanced witches, or just include things that aren’t easy to do. I made this post by doing lots of research on Mabon and made sure to include some timeless activities for any new season <3 Happy Mabon everybody!
