'He’s in the hospital,’ Jeongguk repeated himself, climbing a couple of steps up. Instantaneously, you felt your heart sink.

You pushed to your feet and suddenly wished you hadn’t drunk all that rum. Your head was heavy and dizzy, pulsating; you felt as though you had lifted from the ground and the Earth kept on spinning without you. You lost your balance for a second and staggered, right hand shooting up to press against the side of your head, the left arm impulsively stretching out as if to grab onto something.

'Careful,’ Jeongguk advised, one of his hands gripping your outstretched arm, another one landing on your waist to support you.

'Shit,’ you breathed.
