So, how's everybody feeling now that Purity stepped away?
I've heard... a lot of not so great behaviour regarding both them and against them. But honestly I think them stepping away is a fair start to regaining the community's trust, even if it was partially for their own safety.
A lot of what I've heard about the situation is second-hand, so treat this with a grain of salt. But like... a lot of the top brass on the server needs to step up, like honestly. There's a lot of behavior that still needs to change.
Aside from their actions towards the community, which I'll touch on, I'll tolerate Purity still being co-dev and head writer, even if I have criticisms about it. I've heard a number of claims regarding their reactions to criticisms, but I've also seen some things to call the integrity of those claims into question. I'll just say this. There's going to be criticisms that are less than constructive, that's what's going to happen with a community of this size. But criticism is still important. I'll try to make more of an effort to frequent the suggestion chats and be respectful with my words. Look, I've made my fair share of takes in the past that haven't been well received. I had to take solace in those who were respectful about it, even if there were few. I've also did things that were, objectively, kinda shit, and I've had my ass rightfully slammed. There's no shame in recognizing that yeah, that was on me. I hope you're good about it.
I'm not as concerned with Gwylan's comments - that is, comparatively to everything else - despite how i think it needs a considerable rewording and that their comments about abortion have me raising eyebrows. I've already made comments about how the dialogue could be improved. But If they went and said 'I haven't made abortion into the game because it personally makes me uncomfortable', that's probably the only good excuse I can think of that might satisfy it not being here. *Especially* considering that, of all people, it's the *heretic forest witch* that made the comment. They're about the last person I can think of who'd be hung up about archaic Christian doctrine.
I'm not as familiar with Devil and Doodles actions because I only hang out in the art channels. But if this is how they act, why are they still here? Because from my position it looks like they're getting preferential treatment, just by the fact that they're still in the server and getting away with more of that behavior. Seriously. There's a lot of things that need to happen long term to regain trust, but I'm telling you, kicking them would go a long way to help.
And honestly vrel, I'm not joking or exaggerating when I'm saying this. But you unironically need to hire a PR manager or smth, or otherwise *actually* get someone on the team who can be a decent head moderator and that the wider community trusts, because you've shown and have admitted to not being that person. I understand that you're not good at it, but we need someone who IS. We can't have a repeat of what happened to Sky, nor to our queer POCs in the community. I've seen people and have personally known people on Reddit and on Tumblr and discord lose their trust completely, and they have every right to.
But yeah that sorta got way from me. How're the rest of you feeling?
