Your bicep talk has me remembering a fun fact about muscle gain! One of the things dictating how fast you gain muscle in different places is what muscle you did more with as a kid. So if you spent childhood doing a lot with your arms, you'll gain muscle there a lot more easily! Apparently it's one of those bone-related regulation things that solidifies in adolescence
Wow, that's really fun to know!! Thank you for telling me!
Also now I hope to be motivated again to go back to the gym, maybe I should find back to whatever activity child-me used to do:)
the thing about my girlfriend is that her biceps are crazy big and from nothing, like she can sneeze and they become bigger. or rather we can have a holliday together where she walks around a lot carrying a bag, and that alone makes her biceps more prominent. That can be her only workout and she is still so much stronger than me even after years of going to the gym and lifting weights while she does nothing (except carrying a bag every now and then). crazy but also very adorable <3
I am so sad I didn't have the opportunity to travel to London, bc i really really wanted to see the Catherine Opie exhibition at the national Portrait Gallery:(
Also if I am not mistaken this summer marks 10 years without shaving! I stopped shaving my legs and armpits during high school, and at first I still felt a bit self conscious, so I would wear clothes hiding the hair, but as time has gone by I care less and less, and honestly no one else has cared either
I finally reached out to my great aunt again re: learning traditional embroidery! I came over and she showed me her latest project, making a traditional costume to her last grandchild! She's made them to all her daughters and all her grandchildren (for some even twice, both as kids and as teens) and they're so beautiful! She inherited a traditional costume from her great aunt, which showed slightly different embroideries from the standardised version from that region now, and had the embroideries photographed so that she can replicate them! Ultimately this embroidery is not from a region that I feel much connection to (would feel like posing to walk around with embroidery from that region tbh), but the techniques are the same you need to a range of different regional patterns! She gave me some wool embroidery thread that she no longer needs, and the pallette is so beautiful! So right now I am practicing stings on a piece of linen while watching some old james bond film, and one day down the line I'll have a garmet with proper traditional embroidery on!
I'm wearing s cap and sunglasses to protect my eyes from pollen and my girlfriend just described me as looking like a sad baseball dad on holiday, ouch :')
scone butch... The person for all your pastry and lesbian needs
One thing I really appreciated with fun home by bechdel is how bookish the novel is, and how bookish she is and was as a kid. I don't see enough representation of us bookish butches who used to be bookish tomboys
