Last night I fell asleep under an open skylight, and mists rolled off the Mosel River and into our room all night. In the wee-est of hours, it began to rain! Luckily the Germans make excellent windows, and we were dry all night, even with the window still open. Fisterra, "the end of the earth"! Taking the bus here was a humbling experience and I'm glad we did it. Walking here doesn't make you a "real pilgrim," going to mass doesn't make you a "real pilgrim," carrying your pack the whole way doesn't make you a "real pilgrim." I believed this before I left California and I still believe it now: pilgrimage occurs inside the heart. There are as many ways of pilgrimage as there are human hearts on this earth. Honor your heart and enjoy this journey!

Everything that shines is not gold, but this church in Navarette is gold-plated. Much love to everyone! We have traveled 100(+) miles by our feet and God's grace alone. We have met many beautiful hills, cities, streets, skies, people, animals, churches, art, and so much else under the sun! Tonight is our first night in the Spanish state La Rioja. We spend it in a beautiful albergue where the love shines through the windows and seeps through the walls.

We crossed the river Arga today on a beautiful 11th century bridge. Puente la Reina, northern Spain. We've been walking for a week!
