Pigeon robs local corner shop
here’s the download too !
Debugging and playing with friends!
problem at the moment is that there’s an issue when the computers aren’t 1920/1080 - we need to go through the game and make the cavas adaptable for other monitor sizes.
on another note, working a lot and sleeping a lot - won two pub quizzes this week
Posters ready for rezzed ! Tom and I have been in stocking shelves and making instructional videos today along withfinishing up the last of the game.
Super stoked to get this underway.
1 day to go!
Important development
Tom, our angry pest control man is finished.
Had to share him.
I think he’s my favourite texture to date.
Thanks @badvertex for your face.
We’re turning ourselves into NPC’s!!!
Tom’s the guinneapig for todays first test. I think he looks great. Wbu?
EDIT:
here’s some early picture tests
Oh hey Blog, long time no speak
Everythings a lot more organised - apologies and tears shared and cared for and we’re smashing through this. 11/10 work from the production assistants who made a bunch of super great assets. Here’s a screenshot of the assets folders to show how we’re organising building the final_final_thing_final.
Within a folder aptly named ‘assets with textures’ we have all of the assets grouped by name in the same folder as the texture they require. This way we won’t have a right mare matching up all the textures with the objects every time.
ultimately this means that if there are creative changes to colour towards the end we can just change the texture we know is the problem and know exactly where is is based on it’s file origin.
admittedly it still needs some organising but it’s getting there, its a step in the right direction.
will start posting from the solo too also (when i’ve got some actual material for it)
sexy tree and out-of-service vending machine ooh la la
EDIT: the vending machine looks like that bc maya can’t handle solid-pngs
Tom’s basically made the whole game run like a beautiful stallion so i’m focusing on texturing and resizing predominently. will be doing some solo stuff soon, gonna rebuild my bedroom or something....
Laptop update: nothing to report. my makeshift laptop won’t log into creative cloud so downloading photoshop for home-work has been a right effort, but getting there slowly.
progress pics
Getting somewhere.
put all our names on stuff - gonna put the assistants on some and other people who have helped along the way :)
The collage templates I’ve made today for making assets - sorted by colour and textures. WOOP! here comes texturing!
Laptop update: lots of emails, lots of filling in forms, lots of wasted paper printing off images etc. would love to do it from the comfort of my room but low and behold that’s not an option.
Update: I’ve learnt I’m not a game maker in the slightest. I tried really hard but I’m not and that’s pretty shitty to learn while making a game but hey, life.
Put a nice pigeon sprite in, made it walk, can’t get colliders to work whatsoever. I’ve built it three times with different colliders, different characters, different models, different code. Maybe it’s my Unity. It’s more likely that I’m not very good at building games.
On a better note: made some base collages so I can grade them instead of making a ton of collages every time, that should speed up texture making, but it might look a bit repetitive. I’m not sure I’m fussed about that at this point.
Lleida has been fun: met some incredible, inspiring artists. Going to take the weekend to make some stop-motion gifs and rekindle some animation in my life. Mark Osborne said this weekend that constantly pitching keeps him inspired, and that he had a ‘magic suitcase’ that he’d use to pitch to everyone everyday. I feel like having a magic suitcase for this project would be handy.
Update:
sitting on a train to Lleida - very swish. I could get used to this life.
Built the game again again again, this time with presets that we can swap textures out for etc. Haven’t implemented the line alpha yet but I figured we’d cross that bridge when we get to it. Also realised that I’ve set up the textures so they’re all on one map, then literally made 4 different textures for the items. Idiot. I’ll work that out later (I’ve literally made these prefabs 3 times now because I keep forgetting scripts and colliders. idiota.)
EDIT: just checked out the blogs for the y2′s we’ve been gifted. good bunch. excited.
works in unity too ! rad times
some new style ideas - blending chloes drawings with a more collage-y ‘cul de funk’ style. yesterdays crit didn't go as well as expected but we’ll be alright. i feel more comfortable experimenting again
Final previs (y)
edit: yes i know it looks like humping i’ve just seen it for fucks sake too late now
