One of my favourite shots in the show will forever be this one

The one where Will turns to look at Mike in the shed scene

Because instantly there is a sense that this monologue is different. That it’s more intimate. That it says more. The way he turns into the shot and it’s this huge close up of his face and he’s illuminated by the light. Everything about it just feels so special and it just tells you that this monologue is different. And I love it so much.

people forget that the duffers actually did write a beautiful monologue for Mike before. in season 2.

They wrote 2 beautiful monologues for him. The shed scene. And the Byler heart-to-heart in Dear Billy. Best Mike monologues on the show.

to me the biggest byler proof is still the fact that without it what was the fucking point.

if byler isn’t canon than what was the point of making will in love with mike? if byler isn’t canon than what was the point of having melvin have relationship issues for both seasons theyre in a relationship? if byler isn’t canon than what was the point of “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls”? if byler isn’t canon than what was the point of “im not gonna fall in love”? if byler isn’t canon than what was the point of the van speech and the painting? if byler isn’t canon than what was the point of mike lying and plagiarizing his monologue? if byler isn’t canon than what was the point of any of it? the duffers have already shown that they’re not afraid to subvert expectations by straight baiting the audience with steve and robin so why the hell would they bother doing so much with mike and will just for will to end up alone and mike to end up trapped in a relationship toxic for both of them
