Stranger Things Finale and Byler

None of us are wrong. The Duffer Brothers, Shawn Levy, Netflix are wrong. This was the most elaborate queerbait in media history. The responsibility is on them. Don't ever forget that.

All the evidence. The zoom-in on Mike when Dustin gave his speech. All suggested that Mike is not fully straight and is simply grieving over the loss of his first love.

BYLER IS REAL.

They stoked in us a hope and fire that will not burn out. The subtext was ABSOLUTELY planted and is there. They just didn't deliver. No network corporate execs have the right or the ABILITY to quell our fire to want want to be human and free.

They absolutely knew we exist and who we are when they played David Bowie's "Heroes" during the credits. They gave a nod to heroism, but weren't heroic themselves. What some corporate suits and the Duffer Brothers do does not dictate what WE do.

So, the lesson here is that if you are different and deal with any kind of disability, and your life will be more difficult due to that difference or disability, you should probably just die. Now this is such a toxic place and everyone’s arguing and belittling one another :(

the people who hated volume 2 (which is 100% valid) many of them are being hated on for disliking it and for complaining??

then there’s other bylers belittling people who have lost faith in byler endgame and saying they’re fake??

If we have been queerbaited its completely valid to be angry and upset. Its ok to mourn what could have been. It’s also ok to think volume 2 has been done so badly that there should be backlash.

Of course we will find out if this has been a queerbait tomorrow. But I hope byler tumblr can bounce back no matter what happens in the finale and we can stop arguing amongst ourselves.

As much as it pains me to say it… even if Byler is still endgame in the finale it feels like they have ruined their chances to write it well. There were so many opportunities for scenes between Will and Mike in volume 2 and instead they sidelined Mike completely. I also feel like they have removed the emotional impact of Byler happening by not building it up these past few episodes. Volume 1 did beautifully with setting up Byler and then they stopped and fell flat.

If Byler happens I’d be glad of course, but it’s not the epic love story it should have been.

As much as I want to watch the finale, I also really don’t want to. After the mess of volume 2 and the disappointment, I feel like the finale will make me feel even worse.
