i avidly would like to know if milkmonsters would want a relationship like mike and el’s.

shipping aside like if they were in the shoes of el, would they really want someone who they don’t understand and who doesn’t understand them ?

all in all, the relationship was meant to fail. it was built on a whole bunch of suffering and trauma that still hasn’t been dealt with on either side. which causes that horrible ass relationship that they’ve mistaken for romantic love when it’s more or less philia (could be storge on el’s end) and i know for a fact if the milkmonsters were in either of their shoes they wouldn’t want to be in that kind of futile “star-crossed lovers” ass relationship.

no one would want that so why would they want that for them ?? i honestly believe that they just don’t want el to “lose” to will or for mike to be queer, because then they would have to accept to idea that queer people exist and can be loved and be in love while also getting their happy ending. while also coming to terms with the fact that the strong woman protagonist could end up without the guy and still get her happy ending.

mike was trying to recreate the crazy together scene with el. i thought he realized he was in love with el at the end of season 3, but if he was trying to recreate the crazy together scene to tell el he loves her that implies mike knew he was in love with will during the crazy together scene and that was his way of telling will he loves him. that implies mike was aware before that. how long has mike known he was in love with will?? how long has he been trying to pretend that he loves el the way he loves will????? consciously???

did mike know he was in love with will when he decided to kiss el after they found out will was coming back? did he decide to kiss her because everyone was insisting he liked her and she kinda looks similar to will? did he realize he was in love with will sometime during season 1 and decide he couldn’t let anyone find out so he kissed el??

did mike know he was in love with will in season 2? could he sense that will was starting to realize his own feelings and that was why he started being bold with the coded “i love you” in the crazy together scene? with the hand hold? did he know he was in love with will during the monologue?? was he aware of his love for will when he gave that speech and did he think will might’ve liked him back??? is that why it was so romantically filmed? did mike know he was in love with will when he pushed him off to dance with some girl so he could fulfill his promise to el, even as he watched will and the girl dance with obvious jealousy and regret??

did he feel like he owed el that relationship?

did he know he was in love with will when he put a drawing of will behind el so he could see it if he opened his eyes when they kissed (while not touching her and refusing to let her touch him)? did he know he was in love with will while trying to act normal in front of lucas after el dumped him?? was he trying to convince himself he was in love with el when he got in that fight with will? was he purposefully trying to recreate the crazy together scene with the hope that he could keep pretending with el?

did he know he was in love with will at the end of season 3 when he had been broken up with el for a while and didn’t get back together with her? was he reaching back out to will in a deeper way than what we saw with the “what if you find another party?” line?? is that why he was so shocked when el kissed him??? was he hoping he had fulfilled that promise to el of a relationship and she had gotten over it, but since she still loved him he thought he had to keep fulfilling that promise he made? which was a much easier promise to keep in writing rather than in person??

when did he realize? like, if he knew he was in love with will the whole time it changes everything. if it was during season 2, it changes everything. when he fell in love with will literally shifts his entire perspective on his relationship with el, and we have no idea when he realized. i’m gonna throw up WHEN DID HE FUCKING REALIZE
