Adult Swim has announced that it has greenlit a Rick and Morty anime series titled “Rick and Morty: The Anime” from Takashi Sano at Telecom Animation Film. Sano previously directed two anime shorts in the franchise, “Rick and Morty vs. Genocider” and “Summer Meets God (Rick Meets Evil)”. The 10-episode anime series will be separate from the flagship series, but will adapt themes and events from the original title. The new series will air on Adult Swim and stream on HBO Max.

“The multiverse-straddling exploits of Rick and the gang pose challenges to the family bond, but they always rise to the occasion,” Sano said in a statement. “It’s such a life affirming sight, and Jerry is no exception. … I am honored to have been given an opportunity to tell a new story about this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!”

I got this idea because I was stuck at the hospital for 8+ hours today.

I debunk the "Rick thinks his love for Morty is toxic, what a tsundere grandpa" statement and go with "he is literally addicted to Morty like drugs".

I'm not great with paragraphs, I'll be doing them in bullet forms.

Rick "loves" Morty like how he loves his wine — an addiction.

He was afraid of losing Morty because he was extremely attached to the boy.

And he hated that he "loves" and got attached to the world they are in, just like how some people hate their addiction.

Even though they know it's "bad" for themselves, they continue to latch onto it because it feels good, despite their subconscious saying "no".

Rick is conscious of the fact that this relationship is wearing himself out (with emotions) but continues to stick together with the boy anyway.

His also pretty obsessed and possessive of Morty. So there's that.
