I think Natsuo is a hypocrite when it comes to Touya. I support how he feels about their father because I’m the same with my mom, but I don’t understand him not giving a similar attitude to a brother who went out of his way to harm their little brother. Although it’s also interesting because it shows a flaw in his personality. Once he hates you he hates you forever and once he loves you he loves you forever. I honestly find the second part worse lol.
I wouldn't be so certain about it, this is still in development but a little bit yes
I think he has trouble accepting that Touya he knew (or created in his head) is gone and that murderer IS his brother... I feel he blames himself for not helping him, for not "talking sense into him" so he shares the responsibility (in his opinion) while Endeavor's actions towards Natsuo are his own. This might influence how he treats them
I find Natsuo a very interesting character and he is dear to me because I also have similar feelings... There's a lot of aspects of him we can explore (how he went from being jealous of Rei's affection to understanding Shouto's situation and caring for his mother) or how he has some tendencies that remind me of Endeavor...
Yeah, I guess it is rather hard for him to "switch" from one attitude to another (something he inherited from Enji?) but I think he actually develops and becomes more understanding and critical of his feelings (finding out that his father never meant to neglect him; the whole Dabi reveal). You can see how his behaviour during the visit to Enji is different than during their first dinner... They grew a lot
Natsuo is only 19 and tbh I think it is normal at this age to not be consistent about moral things or having your moral compass shaken... So I wouldn't say he is a hypocrite? It's not like he excuses Touya or bashes Enji indiscriminately even though he is very emotionally charged about the subjects. The situation might have made him question himself is what I am saying

i think that the "i do not control the ____" memes are generally tame and do not lend enough credence to the genuine absurdity of the original line that is
I saw this and remembered that I had this thread saved in a folder and figured this would be a good time to bring it out
READ THE WHOLE THING. I cannot garuntee that you will be pleased, but I can guarantee that it is one HELL of a rollercoaster.
I just. really wanted an Azula redemption arc. was it too much to ask
Ok so that was the wrong picture

“How can you lack sympathy for Shigaraki when he’s a victim of abusive grooming but you have sympathy for Hawks?!”
The same way you hypocritical idiots lack sympathy for Hawks as an abuse victim but have sympathy for Shigaraki and Dabi.

Is yoichi suggesting he would have turned out like shigaraki if he wasn’t saved? Maybe that’s where he gets his sympathy but 2nd probably saved him because he saw a victim, not someone who was actively hurting others. So their little debate kind of confused me like what was the point.
Yup. Seems like Yoichi was groomed to be AFO’s successor, and AFO was trying to force or brainwash him into that role when he locked him up. But he was saved from that fate when the 2nd rescued him. Yoichi sees himself in Shigaraki, so it’s very possible he wasn’t always just a victim. It’s very possible that Yoichi did do evil things under AFO’s commands before he woke up and started openly resisting and defying OFA. I think the first reaction of the 2nd upon seeing Yoichi proves that. He immediately raised his weapon to attack Yoichi, meaning he was most likely there to kill him, not to save him. But he changed his mind when he saw Yoichi’s defeated, fearful and pleading eyes.
The 2nd’s empathy saved Yoichi. But Yoichi also saved himself when he immediately accepted the 2nd ’s help. That’s the difference between him and Shigaraki so far. That’s why he and the 2nd are still in disagreement because they’re looking at the situation from very different viewpoints. Yoichi believes he wouldn’t have been saved without the 2nd’s help, and the 2nd believes it was Yoichi’s acceptance of that help that saved him, not the mere fact that he offered his help.
The 2nd is more correct, but he’s also wrong. Refusing to offer help to a villain because you’ve already decided - on your own - they’ll never accept help is unwise and unheroic.
Deku’s solution was better (offer help to the villain, no matter how evil they are, and beat them up - or kill them - when it’s crystal clear they won’t accept help and won’t stop their evil actions).
