it's going good!! ill be real the heat wave killed me a bit and i got a ginormous RASH from the heat on day 2 😭😭😭 like im used to canada temperatures where if it hits 18° that's a hot day so i wilted the second i landed here
i had a ton of euro left over from the last time i was in europe, and about $800 on my wise card that i can convert into whatever, so i have deluded myself into thinking everything is "free" lol. the sticker shock is definitely real tho when i do the conversions, like it's so much more expensive than when i was here 10 yrs ago. also much more crowded, like paris in 2017 was less crowded than prague felt last week. granted i am part of the problem lol so i won't complain. it's not hard to understand how there's a massive climate change induced heatwave rn when everybody is jetting all over
the museums have been amazing. i loved st agnes convent in prague, and the kunstkammer in vienna. it's sickening how much money the hapsburgs had to spend on random bullshit. i got a similar sick feeling from how many stolen african artifacts are in there. i really have a love hate relationship with museums lol. and honestly i have a love hate relationship with travel in general these days because even tho i am fairly low carbon footprint in my day to day life at home, travelling feels like peak treatlerism
i also have an oomf from austria who is an opera singer and gave me a tour of backstage at the state opera????? that was so cool thank you so much syrena ur the best. legit the highlight of the trip
i already knew i don't rly like european food so ive been eating at places owned by immigrants and im low-key getting hate for it but like... idk half the time in europe the traditional food is boiled pork knuckle with unseasoned potato and cabbage it's just not for me 😭 the kebab stands are always there for me tho... i also randomly had some super bomb thai food in vienna. again, much like the medieval art museum, these places are always empty and idgi bc it's so much better than the traditional food SAWRYYY... the receptionist at my current hotel was telling me i had to try this schnitzel place, it's her favourite local food, etc and it was so meh to me. but to each their own....
i should post some pics soon bc ive spent much of my time wandering around going into random churches and state buildings and they are all just so beautiful
i leave for budapest tmrw and don't have much planned so if anybody has suggestions plz lmk!
