Alabama (Alabama)
Thus concludes the 50 States and 50 Bands tour.
Jewel (Alaska)
Jimmy Eat World (Arizona)
Al Green (Arkansas)
Blink-182 (California)
Five Iron Frenzy (Colorado)
John Mayer (Connecticut)
George Thorogood (Delaware)
One bourbon, one shot, one beer, and one artist from Delaware. The pride of Wilmington is bad to the bone. Get it.
New Found Glory (Florida)
I have so many favorite bands from Florida like Underoath or Less Than Jake to name a few, but consistently, it’s been New Found Glory, because now I can share them with my kids :-)
Norma Jean (Georgia)
Sure there’s some great southern rap from Georgia, but Norma Jean’s original name was Luti-Kriss, which is oddly a popular choice for musicians from Georgia. But Luda, Outkast, nor Killer Mike have a shark doing office work in their videos
Jack Johnson (Hawai’i)
Paul Revere & The Raiders (Idaho)
I will finish this. Idaho doesn’t have much to choose from, so I’ll go with the only band I recognized.
Jars of Clay-Fall Alseep (The rest of Illinois)
Kanye West/Common-The Food (Illinois)
Two of Chicago's finest.
The Ataris-Teenage Riot (Indiana)
Sure Michael Jackson is the King of Pop and most likely the greatest thing to come out of Gary, Ind., but down in Anderson is Kris Roe. Anyone unfamiliar with the work of the Ataris before "In this Diary" and "Boys of Summer" please enjoy.
Slipknot-Duality (Iowa)
Slipknot is clearly going off the "Field of Dreams" model in this video. However, they built it, but now a bunch of shirtless dudes are about to smash it apart. Originally I was terrified of the band, but they more I watch the video,it's all those sneering angry people (one with a gas mask?). What I will say is that there is nobody in this video trying to get famous by being in a video. It's just all people who need to filter some of their aggression with a band that helps them do so. So really once you get past the things that might make you uncomfortable, this song is pretty sweet with all seven hundred people on percussion and the video really captures the tone of the song.
Kansas-Carry on My Wayward Son (Kansas)
Yes for the state of Kansas I chose Kansas. Here's what I have to say about that.
